    Klin Coach - Ewekoro

    The responsibility of the kiln Coach is to guarantee efficiency and optimization of the burning line by working in conjunction with process, quality and maintenance team, and to improve plant performance by developing the Control Room Operators to mastery level of competency in VRM and kiln operations. This is achieved through a continuous process of daily performance monitoring, evaluation and feedback, maintaining and improving the plant efficiency through analysis of specific process parameters and ensuring conformities with Safety, Environmental and Quality guidelines.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner .
    • Analyzes all process incidents and work with CCRO to mitigate the impact of such incidents and propose solutions to prevent future reoccurrence.
    • Monitors application of Production SOP’s.
    • Coordinate the development of operational procedures (SOPs) for the execution of all production related tasks in the plant.

    Helps Plant operators to achieve operational consistencies by:

    • Leading incident review \ analysis process with CCR operators
    • Setting operational objectives from the operator incident review log data analysis
    • Reviewing and analyzing the shift production charts and report.
    • Identifying the possible cause of process target deviations and gaps in optimum conditions.
    • Reviewing and analyzing the clinker quality control data
    • Reviewing and analyzing the raw mix preparation quality control data
    • Reviewing and analyzing shift downtime reports from the software (ADAP, etc)
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

    Supports plant operators training and development by:

    • Identifying the training and development needs for CCR operators and patrollers
    • Conducting effective one –on-one training activities
    • Making effective use of available training media for training delivery (CECIL + Produce & Maintain)
    • Developing an effective structured on the job training program (OJT)
    • Conducting effective group training activities.
    • Design and develop training modules.
    • Leading role in POM implementation.
    • Participate in the incident analysis process and contribute to improvement recommendations.
    • Ensures alignment of SOP’s with accepted control strategies and best practices.
    • Plays a priority role in operator training, assessment, and certification.
    • Proper inspection of the kiln workshops during failures and turn around maintenance
    • Optimize the production process using control loops
    • Develop control room operators and production supervisors competencies, coaching sessions and training modules
    • Create, update, and validate all production standard operation procedures (SOP) for all production jobs.
    • Participate actively in plant performance and plant reliability meetings

    Apply effective coaching techniques in on the job training with CCROs and Shift Production

    Administration

    • Report and investigate accidents and near misses with accident investigation committee.
    • Assist the Production Manager in preparation of department operation budget, monthly accurals and capita; projects.
    • Work with section/ senior engineers in planning and scheduling of major and minor plant maintenance / shutdowns.
    • Maintain a tool inventory used by production personnel
    • Maintain and administer monthly shift roster and leave roster
    • Assist the Production Manager in the development and implementation of training plans for the production personnel
    • Detect training needs of Shift personnel, guide and train them
    • Appraise subordinates and recommend promotions, transfers and disciplinary actions,
    • Compiles on daily basis job done during major repairs and discuss with Methods the execution of outstanding jobs for the incoming team.
    • Monitors the cost of production and expenditures in order to optimize the cost per tonne of clinker and cement.
    • Assist the Production Manager in the manpower planning and development.
    • Ensures compliance with environmental and quality management systems (ISO 14001 & 9001 -2000).
    • Ensures the plant surrounding are in good environmental state at all times
    • Ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of subordinates and instill discipline from time to time.
    • To maintain the quality within the range as defined in the Quality Management System (QMS).
    • Monitor the production results (production amount, energy consumption, etc.) in order to meet the target KPIs.

    Education/Qualifications

    • First degree or equivalent in any engineering discipline (mechanical /electrical engineering as main subjects)

    Production Patroller - Ewekoro

    To patrol, monitor and ensure that equipment runs smoothly in order to meet the job specifications of the shift.

    Production patroller mission is to serve as the first level inspector, and participate in planned shutdown and running maintenance of all plants safely and efficiently through a complete working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.

    Responsibilities

    • Obtain plant status information from all relevant sources at the start of the shift.
    • Systematically walk through the designated area and inspect the condition of equipment, check that parameters are within specified limits.
    • Complete properly the information for handover to next shift.
    • Communicate work status, hazards, abnormalities & unresolved problems clearly to all relevant persons to ensure they can be fixed and taken into account during the next shift(s).
    • Detect & record abnormalities and potential problems, communicate them to CCR or superiors & take if possible prompt corrective actions.
    • Suggest improvements or inclusions of new items in checklists.
    • Carry out accurate stocks measurement according to procedures (incl. Safety aspects) & report the stock levels to CRO/supervisor.
    • Identify minor repairs and follow up for maintenance to be carried out.
    • Obtain approval (work permit) from the Shift Leader or Supervisor before starting the repair job. Control risks and ensure compliance with safety & environmental requirements.
    • Undertake the repair job according to procedures & manufacturer specifications using appropriate tools and techniques.
    • Assist the maintenance team for jobs requiring coordination between maintenance and production.
    • Manually start, adjust and stop equipment in accordance with procedures.
    • After it has been stopped, obtain CCR instruction before adjusting equipment.
    • Switch off the equipment in a position that makes access easy and make sure area is clear and safe for maintenance.
    • Perform pre-start checks (incl. testing of equipment) & confirm to CRO that equipment is ready for start-up.
    • Ensure auxiliary equipment operates properly after start-up and report any abnormalities.

    • Install refractory correctly according to relevant techniques (For kiln Patrollers)

    Quarry Engineer - Ewekoro

    The objective of the Quarry Engineer is to efficiently operate and perform oversight function in handling all Quarry related operations. The role holder is responsible for the provision and supply of all raw materials needed for cement production and to ensure that all tasks are performed according to Lafarge safety practices and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    • Take a lead in the enforcement of Lafarge safety rules and guidelines through Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) while ensuring adherence by quarry team and contractors.
    • Monitors and record quarry Plant performance as related to the specified design and study the process and Plant performances in order to propose improvements
    • Manages the day to day running of the quarry respecting the KPIs and plants priorities.
    • Coordinate quarry contractor meeting and action plan, monitor the results and initiates corrective actions where required.
    • Supervise Overburden Activities to meet the require volume, perform quality check on daily volume removed
    • Supervise and conduct safe blasting operation : Supervise blasting operation without accident and Incident
    • Supervise and monitor daily quarry field operations and activities to ensure Limestone production (Quality and quantities) target are met
    • Participate, control and manage quarry annual volume and financial budget, set control to achieve set objectives.
    • Ensure the Quarry is mined according to the Mining plan, through daily update on geochemical blocks, enforce Contractor to follow Lafarge Mining guidelines
    • Prepare, Manage and control quarry mining activities in line with the plant volume and financial target
    • Prepare simple working drawings and sketches in AutoCAD format for quarry daily operations (Limestone and Overburden advance survey).
    • Explosives Magazine Management: Magazine inspection and audit every month follow up action on the audit. Update explosives records: Usage and receipt compile and write monthly explosives returns, state security services report and update explosives consumption on Vendor Inventory Management system.
    • Constuct, maintain, and monitor the quarry internal ditches and drainages
    • Prepare, analyze and send Quarry Monthly performance tracker.
    • Manage, monitor and oversee the quarry day to day quarry dewatering system including pumps and ditches.
    • Comply with EMS Quarry Instrumentation activities
    • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of integrated management system in the plant.
    • Any duties as assigned by the Quarry Manager.

    Education/Qualifications

    • HND or B. Sc. In Mining Engineering

    Experience

    • Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in a process industry or quarry operation.

    Knowledge & Skills
