    Product Manager (Solar Home Systems)

    Team: Product and Research & Development 

    Reporting To: Head of Product Management

    Hay Grade:15

    Job Purpose/Mission 

    The Product Manager is responsible for the core of Engie Energy Access (EEA)  product line. As a leader in the PAYGO sphere, our products are the first step into the homes of our customers and are a key part of the EEA customer lifetime value. The Product Manager will deliver life-changing solutions and offerings in line with EEA’s product development process.

    This role sits within the Product and Research & Development department at EEA and involves working closely with the R&D team to develop and deploy new solar home systems across the Engie Energy Access markets. You will balance delivering custom energy solutions for our customers as well productizing these offerings so they can be scalable.

    You will own the conceptualization and business positioning of new products and represent the voice of the customer on cross-functional teams to design, implement, monitor, and scale new products. This is an exciting role which requires creativity and strategic visioning as well as operational execution and working cross-functionally with our customer service, operations, sales, and technical teams on the ground.

    Responsibilities

    • Drive continuous collection and analysis of customer data on device performance, emerging use cases and customer satisfaction and use this data to design product interventions
    • Manage the lifecycle of solar home systems and solar accessory products from conceptualization, to market introduction and eventual phasing out
    • Own the Profit & Loss of the portfolio of products under your management, and working across departments ensure that each product meets its commercial targets
    • Collaborate with country team departments (commercial, operations, product, etc.) to develop clear market requirements for product iterations and new product development
    • Work closely with Research & Development and supply chain teams to develop new products and improve existing ones
    • Maintain a bird’s eye view across the portfolio, identifying opportunities of increased optimization and efficiency in line with company targets
    • Contribute to the overarching company product strategy by informing the development of the product roadmap
    • Support country teams to design and run product pilots and launches, as well as implement product improvements according to local market needs

    Knowledge and skills 

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (product management, project management, off-grid industry, customer insights, etc.)
    • Project management experience and strong business acumen: entrepreneurial candidates who have started or contributed significantly to a particular project, team, or new company. Candidates who have seen projects through from start to finish, from design to scale up phase
    • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with all members of both the business and engineering teams
    • Ability to coordinate with a diverse group of stakeholders
    • Experience designing or building or supporting component based solar systems
    • Quantitative analysis skills and an understanding of effective technical communication and data visualization methods
    • Ability to breakdown technical decisions into a thorough decision-making process

    Requirement:

    • Any EEA country (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Mozambique, Benin, Nigeria & Cote d'ivoire) but preference for Benin, Nigeria & Cote d'ivoire.
    • Experience in consumer product development and ‘last mile’ customer delivery
    • Bachelors degree in engineering, economics or related topic
    • Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of time

    Global Finance Operations Manager

    Job Purpose/Mission  

    ENGIE Energy Access (EEA)  is looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and skilled Global Finance Operations Manager with a passion in renewable energy, and financial inclusion to join our team. This position will be part of the Global Accounting and Reporting team that is currently based in Berlin, Germany, and Kampala, Uganda led by the Head of Accounting and Reporting and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer.

    The Global Finance Operations Manager will ensure timely and accurate financial statements and reporting, manage the implementation of processes and procedures to ensure best practices and adherence to IFRS and tax laws. The Accounting and Reporting department is responsible for the set up and improving of EEA financial procedures, the accounting, and the internal and external reporting of the EEA financials. The Global Finance Operations Manager will report directly to the Global Head of Accounting and Reporting.

    Responsibilities 

    • Manage and oversee financial reporting process for all African countries, with focus on the EEA Southern Region (i.e. Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique), including monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial and management reporting
    • Oversee the Budget vs Actual reporting, coordinating with country teams to assess and clarify to Budget vs Actual differences and be responsible for an accurate and timely global reporting according to EEA’s guidelines
    • Support the countries with the monthly closing and actively review and analyze the monthly financial performance. Ensure that the local Finance teams are reporting the monthly results in alignment with the Chart of Accounts (CoA)
    • Continue improving SAP as ERP system after recent roll out, rolling out new modules, reporting and dashboards, coordinating closely with the local finance teams and operations teams to better reflect the inventory position and reporting of reconciliation differences.
    • Work closely with local Finance teams, Global Operations and Africa subsidiary Operations teams to ensure proper systems and processes for inventory management in the ERP, ensure adherence to monthly/quarterly counts and analysis within EEA
    • Support African subsidiary Finance teams, with focus on the EEA Southern Region (i.e. Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique), to prepare for annual internal and external audits
    •  Provide the monthly EEA results of the Southern region to our shareholder following specific tools and processes

    Knowledge and skills  

    Experience

    • Significant leadership and management experience in operational finance, preferably as Finance Manager
    • Founded knowledge in IFRS
    • Relevant experience in Tax regulations is a plus
    • Ability to manage multi-cultural relationships with finance operations staff
    • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative nature
    • Attention to detail, strategic thinker
    • Passion for EEA´s vision

    Qualifications

    • B.A or B.S in Accounting or Business
    • Relevant certification in accounting or financial controlling is a plus.

    Nigeria Accounting Supervisor (Treasury & Compliance)

    Job Purpose/Mission

    The holder of this position will be part of the Finance team that is based in Abuja, Nigeria, led by the Head of Finance & Admin. You will supervise the operations of the Accounting unit. This involves direct oversight and management of the company's accountants as well as accounting support staff. You will be responsible for planning, organising and managing the daily operation of the Accounting functions, tasks and projects, while ensuring that department responsibilities are performed and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    •  Providing day to day direction and support to the accounting team ensuring expectations are communicated and departmental goals are achieved
    • Coaching, training and developing the team, including employee performance evaluations and providing career development planning and opportunities
    • Work together with the accounting team to evaluate and improve processes to enhance speed and accuracy of accounting tasks
    • Overseeing: Compliance & Taxes, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, financial statements and cost reports, and analysis receipts and disbursements, general journals, fixed assets and month end processes
    • Lead and provide oversight for month-end close
    • Preparing forecasts and monthly reports
    • Ensuring that accounting practices, records, controls and decisions are made according to accounting standards and Company policy
    • Organising and manage periodic stock takes and perform inventory reconciliations
    • Preparation of statutory accounts
    • Overseeing preparation and completion of the annual tax returns
    • Performing other duties as required

    Experience

    • 5 years of broad-based accounting/reporting experience, including minimum 2 years supervisory or management experience
    • Knowledge of SAP software
    • Working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws
    • Experience working with and producing management and statutory accounts
    • Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office environment with advanced Excel skills
    • Experience in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Experience working at multinational organisations will be advantageous
    • Awareness and ability to demonstrate the importance of ethics & appropriate codes of conduct in the workplace
    • Ability to achieve daily targets while attending to impromptu activities that may occur
