    EPST Member (PACO / Process Eng. / RE)

    SNEPCo Enhanced Problem Solving Team (EPST) helps to deliver and sustain high performance by focusing on solving complex and high-level problems that mitigate long-term and/or high-impact threats. The EPST approach is based on applying the principles of Causal Learning – a performance improvement Unit with intent to enable people to create the future performance they want by developing a deep understanding of the technical and systemic causes of the current performance and then taking action to correct these causes.

    What is the role?

    The Enhanced Problem Solving Team Member (EPST Member) reports directly to the EPST Lead, and part of a dedicated, full-time, multidisciplinary team tasked with solving complex operational and technical problems across SNEPCo. The team is responsible for discovering deeper causal factors that contribute to underperformance and consequently create learning environment where people can learn across all levels in the organization.

    This work assignment will offer individuals the opportunity to develop in-depth problem-solving skills that can be applied in any Business or Engineering context in their future roles. The position has high exposure to the Leadership

    Team and provides opportunity to acquire advanced skills on how to engage and influence across functional boundaries and at all levels. At a high level, improved performance will be driven by:

    • Improved overall asset Availability through Causal Learning in SNEPCo to Top Quartile performance and in line with agreed business plans
    • Improved Reliability – Reduce the frequency and severity of significant big hits resulting in unplanned equipment shutdowns.
    • Improved Reliability processes in SNEPCo using the Causal Learning Methodology and outcome of Causal Learning Investigations as input into the threat and opportunities management tool (FiT4), Reliability Analysis, Manage Equipment Care (MEC) process and other aspects of the Safety, Environment and Asset Management (SEAM) standards.
    • Improved recovery – Reduce the amount of time to recover from plant trips and mitigate the impact of Facility or individual unit trips
    •  Capacity to utilize Causal Learning Methodology across SNEPCo not only to understand business challenges, but in addition to have clear understanding of Systemic Patterns that shape behaviours.

    Accountabilities:

    The selected individual is responsible for providing inputs bothering on their primary disciplines where required and contributing to the overall success of the EPST in addressing identified threats to within and outside Operations as may be required. The EPST Member would deliver on the following objectives:

    • Demonstrate personal commitment to support a culture across the Organization where no one gets hurt and process safety management is paramount (Goal Zero = No Harm, No Leaks).
    •  Apply Causal Learning to understand technical and non-technical issues that constitute threats to SNEPCo performance.
    •  Create the right Learning environment using effective Learning materials and effective communication strategy in other to showcase what is being discovered to the Organization.
    • Provide the necessary groundwork to enable generation of effective Solutions Ideas, working with other key stakeholders across the Organization with the approval of the Sponsor to effectively develop corrective actions and to mitigate threats as required.
    • Actively work to support the development of Causal Learning Capability across the Business, including Coaching, Quality Assurance and formal Trainings / Workshops.
    • Actively participate in the global Learn and Improve network, including the global Causal Learning Practitioners network to leverage learning continually being cascaded across the group.
    • Provide the necessary information to support leaders at all levels in the organization to drive learning and behavioural change in their part of the system through coaching and focused engagements.

    Key Challenges

    • Demonstrating technical agility in navigating complex, heterogeneous system environment
    • Investigate and analyze multiple systems simultaneously, adapting to varying operational requirements and tight deadlines
    • Timely delivery of Investigations to address active threats across the business
    • Seeking out mitigations (interim measures) while Investigations are ongoing, to prevent further escalations or repeat failures
    • Occasional short notice travels to understand emergent issues due to nature of any aging Asset
    • Understanding and articulating best approach to address System Patterns leading to shift in Culture

    What we need from you?

    The ideal candidate is expected to have the following attributes:

    • Must have at least 5 yrs relevant experience in an Oil and Gas industry (prior experience with an FPSO will be a plus)
    • A Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, Commerce and alike)
    • Experience with Management of Change Process, Technical Integrity management processes and Safety Leadership
    • Minimum Knowledge level proficiency in CL (Causal Learning) or similar Causal Analytical Methodology (e.g. Tripod Beta, Apollo Reality chart will be a plus), able to use Causal Investigation related applications (e.g. Microsoft Visio).
    • Reflective system thinker that can process complexity, with the ability to draw quick insights from observations timely.
    • Exceptional analytical capabilities with strong command of Excel
    • Proven record of results delivery in a physical and virtual environment
    • Evidence of strong communication & stakeholder management skills
    • Demonstrable capability in working with multi-disciplines, multi-cultural workforce and across organizational boundaries beyond traditional functional lines
    • Authentic, having passion to see and learn new things, know and understand the smallest details
    • Have a drive to understand theoretical background to issues under Investigation
    • Open minded, capable of dealing with unconscious biases, aware of the limitations of knowledge and experience gained over time
    • Experience in crisis management
    • Flair for data mining and analysis, including complicated details from different Repositories (experience with integrated SAP/ERP systems will be a plus)
    • Tenacity to remain focused on inputting every relevant detail into the CL tools as required
    • Excellent presentation skills along with good PowerPoint knowledge, with good workshop / events facilitation skills and able to effectively communicate with stakeholders, including Leadership at all levels
    • Proactive and goal-oriented approach
    • Extensive supply chain experience
    • Sufficient knowledge in technical writing (investigation reports, recording decisions)
    • Willing and able to travel to site locations as required, even at short notice in response to organizational needs
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a system thinking mindset, including use of related analytics support tools

    Maintenance Planner & Scheduler

    What’s the role?

    The role of Maintenance Planner and Scheduler is to Support to provide steer and direction and Ensure Compliance:

    • Support with enabling the usage of supporting technologies /IT tools.
    • Support to perform regular quality checks and actively monitor progress.
    • Ensure that the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & deliverables are closely monitored & flag up opportunities and areas of improvement.
    • Ensure that activities are executed in line with Shell’s policies; Technical Assist Organization (TAO) and Global SBO set standards including Data privacy/protection, HSSE&SP, Shell Asset Management System processes & others).

    Accountabilities:

    • Schedule Routine Maintenance tasks in accordance with Shell Asset Management System (AMS) Perform Maintenance Execution process.
    • Generate optimized and fully resources loaded schedules for all Assets.
    • Ensure all Safety Critical, License to Operate (LTOs), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance etc. Work Orders (WO) are properly scheduled to meeting their respective Latest Allowed Finish Date (LAFD)
    • Generate “Ready to Schedule” WO backlog and review with Field Site Managers, Operations & Maintenance Leads and Crew Leads
    • Coordinate with Field Site Managers, Operations & Maintenance Leads, Crew Leads and Asset functions as appropriate on resource availability, ensure resource conflicts are resolved.
    • Provide “Ready to Schedule” Work Centre forecast for next rolling 90 days.
    • Act as an enabler for Maintenance execution to optimize the utilization of available craft resources.
    • Lead and Own Daily Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Meeting (YTT) and Weekly Scheduling meetings. Also, the Daily Notification Review meeting
    • Maintain schedule priorities and integrate with Production to drive the organization to deliver short term and long-term performance.
    • Work Field Site Managers, Operations & Maintenance Leads and Crew Leads
    • where LAFDs need revision to suit business plan
    • Facilitate weekly scheduling meeting and produce the Asset Integrated Schedule weekly.
    • Contribute to raising deviations and pursue approval
    • Maintain a shared ownership of Maintenance Execution Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and act as an enabler to meet or exceed the targets. Maintain a tally of reasons for WOs that did not meet compliance to help investigation and learning's.
    • Pursue for opportunities where CM &PM jobs on the same equipment or the same production line can be bundled together for schedule optimization, minimize production down time and maximize resource utilization. (Campaign maintenance).
    • Update current week schedule and adjust as necessary. 
    • Optimize 4- week Preliminary Schedule
    • Post daily Schedules in Share Point & update Scheduling tracking sheets.
    • Review Work Centre Loading profile for the next week (Minimum 100% Loading)
    • Update 90-day Rolling PM look-ahead and CM WOs based on “Basic Start Date”.
    • Align work scheduling with the equipment maintenance opportunity, train outage or shutdown.
    • Liaise with Integrated Activity Plan (IAP) Planner and adopt restrictions for execution in the schedule (e.g. turnaround periods) Call Preventive Maintenance (PM) work-orders on a fixed interval (e.g. once/quarter) for a fixed look-ahead (e.g. one year)
    • Query Computerized Maintenance Management System​ (CMMS) SAP for Notifications/ work order that require attention (e.g. Check for Work order with SAP status CNF (Confirmed) but not TECO (Technically Completed) and SAP Work orders with Latest Allowed Finish Date (LAFD) or Start date in the past).
    • To enable the end-to-end process of material purchasing using Shell Companies in Nigeria Material Management “ways of working” and manage the Requisition-to-Pay (RtP) Process.
    • Review Field Status Reporting (FSR) daily and advise the team on potential non compliances for PM and CM orders.
    • To ensure all SIMOPS/SOP (Simultaneous Operation/Standard Operating Procedure) requirements are fulfilled and complied with

    What we need from you?

    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or HND
    • Demonstrate at least 5 years relevant experience
    • Having an experience in an Oil and Gas (Energy, Power) is preferred

    ESR Adviser/Ops

    To play a key role in achieving the objectives of the External Security Relations Team (deployments, approvals, waivers, response to summons/interviews, compliance to VPHSR etc.) through networking / interactions with middle level staff of Government Security Agencies (e.g. Nigeria Police Force, State Security Services (SSS), Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, Nigerian Security & Civil Defence Corp, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Office of the National Security Adviser etc.).To manage security operations in the Abuja office, Management Guest House and environs to mitigate threats to personnel, assets, information and reputation.

    Principal Accountabilities :

    • Plan and monitor interactions with government security agencies
    • Develop and maintain an effective network of contacts in government security circles from which information can be gleaned
    • Provide input to the development of detailed plans/communication for addressing the identified security threats
    • Ensure that approvals sought by SCiN from government security agencies in Abuja are obtained promptly in line with company values and policies.
    • Manage SPY Police and Government Security operatives deployed in Abuja Operations.
    • Planning and monitoring of security spend in line with approved Strategy Document
    • Update and continuously test all plans, procedures in line with corporate guidance (FSP, SRA’s, SOPs)
    • Operationalise strategy to promote security awareness among staff and contractors and effectively deliver security advice to local management team on threats to personnel, assets & operations

    Key Interfaces

    • External Security Relations Manager, Abuja Government Relations Manager (Location Manager)
    •  Security Operations Managers and Manager Security Intelligence/Assessment
    • SCiN departments (particularly Legal) that have business with Government Security Agencies in Abuja.

    • Other members of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), Security Sub Committee

    What we need from you?

    • Good knowledge of E&P business, current company thrust (objective) and understanding of the local environment.
    • At least 8 years of relevant experience
    • Certificate: Membership in any recognize security institution is an added advantage
    • Strategic thinker and competent communicator – able to assimilate data, define objectives and deliver clear results using available resources and communicate implementation plans.
    • Experience in the function and full familiarity with Shell Group HSE policies, standards and procedures, and the Global Security processes.
    • Understanding of the principles of VPHSR, Ethics and Compliance, FCPA etc
    • Ability to network and influence key customers and be insightful to understand the interests of a wide variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to lead and coordinate security delivery process across the operational footprint and delegate tasks with limited resources
    • Ability to quantify asset risks and robustly support proposed mitigation expenditure.

    Control Room Operator

    What’s the role?

    Execute the production and routine first line maintenance (FLM) activities in oil/gas field, ensuring that production targets are met and that wells, facilities operations, integrity, HSE (safety) and business requirements and are complied with. Ensure compliance of plant operation within the operating envelope and guidelines. Execute all plant operations activities in a cost-effective manner in consultation with the Supervisor. Check and monitor compliance with all SPDC's procedures and HSES requirements. Monitor equipment performance/operability and effectively troubleshoot any process upset and associated oil/gas facilities. Conduct and produce regular station operations and equipment report. Make certain that all routine maintenance and operations and non-routine operations, inspection, servicing and repair activities are implemented to appropriate SPDC standards. Ensure the safety and security of the plant in an emergency and perform the role of a member of the Emergency Response Team in facility or work where required.

    Accountabilities:

    • Operate Oil and gas facility (flow station, or a gas processing plant)
    • To execute routine production and first line maintenance operations and minor non-routine production activities as directed by Supervisor.
    • To measure, validate and report production (oil and gas) volumes.
    • To ensure that wells are tested and sampled, validated and the results reported as per the requirements of reservoir management.
    • To execute the set programs of minor routine equipment services as set out in the facility Manuals and Work Practices.
    • Attend monthly HSSE meeting, daily toolbox meeting and provide technical/HSE input.
    • Execute recommendations for performance improvement of individual assets.
    • Test functionality of asset to ensure integrity in conjunction with team leader.
    • Perform gas well and plant operations to produce gas at agreed quality and volume specification and deliver processed gas at custody transfer point in accordance with contractual agreements and delivery schedules.
    • Monitor process parameters in the control room and co-ordinate intervention activities.
    • Develop his team into a competent team able to operate the plant.
    • Monitor all plant operating parameters and ensure that they are operating within designed envelope.
    • Carry out routine first line maintenance checks on all plant and process equipment.
    • Where applicable, operate the NAG wells and monitor wells performance monthly through well testing, and sampling. Analyze, field data for general monitoring of plant performance.
    • Operate plant-safeguarding systems located in the field.
    • Maintain good housekeeping within the plant areas.
    • Isolate and depressurize process equipment for maintenance activities as directed.

    General Skills.

    • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to prevent failures or breakdowns.
    • Carry out Emergency response duties under the instruction of the Emergency team leader as part of the Emergency Response Team as assigned in location of work.  Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and a proactive and enthusiastic approach.
    • Should have good interpersonal relationship, collaborates well and a good team player.
    • Able to competently, maintain and optimize plant and equipment in a challenging environment. Ability to work in a competent and efficient manner, identify and safely resolve problems, improving performance and efficiency within the Asset.

    What we need from you?

    • Qualification; OND, HND or bachelor’s in any engineering discipline or physical sciences with at least 5 years work experience is required.
    • Communicates effectively.
    • Analytical skills and able to understand risks in dynamic situations, in a production facility.
    • Collaborates and integrates well for goal delivery.
    • Able to read and understand process documents (PEFS, P&ID, C&E etc)
