    Patroller, Ewekoro

    Patroller objective is to through a complete working knowledge of the manufacturing equipment and process, serve as the production inspector for the operation. Participate in planned shutdown and running maintenance of all plants safely and efficiently. Starts up equipment, troubleshoots problems and takes corrective actions to maximize the efficient operation of the Plant. Patroller is responsible for the smooth operation and general housekeeping of all production shops.

    What you'll be doing

    • Performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Carry out equipment energy isolation according to LOTOTO procedure
    • Performs field checks and troubleshoot all aspects of raw mill, kiln and finish mill systems in compliance with Company quality standards and requirements.
    • Conduct running and shutdown inspection of all equipment for defects, drift and report such problems to the CCRO for attention and action.
    • Write shift report and complete patroller inspection checklist to indicate solved problems and outstanding issues on the plant.
    • Monitors equipment operation and solves problems throughout the plant as required including process drift, preheater blockage e.t.c
    • Performs first level maintenance activities throughout the plant as required in order to maximize equipment operation and minimize equipment downtime.
    • Coordinates activities of mobile plant operators and other contracted services to assure adequate supply of process-related materials as required.
    • Operates the individual equipments on test mode when such equipments are on maintenance.
    • Assist CCRO in the operation of key equipments in local mode.
    • Assists CCRO in the management of off-spec products.
    • Carry out diaphragm slots cleaning for finish mills on maintenance days.
    • Carry out ball mill media loading according to the process engineer’s recommendations.
    • Carry out test drilling of refractory lining and submit report to the CCRO for analysis.
    • Ensures smooth operation of plant air compressors and pneumatic conveyance systems.
    • Maintains good housekeeping standards in the plant.
    • Attends and contribute to safety toolbox meeting at the beginning of every shift and offer suggestions on safe work methods.
    • Implement Lafarge Safety Rules and Regulation in accordance with the Group HSE Standards and Advisories.
    • Monitors the operations and optimizes all aspects of raw mills, kiln system in compliance with the Company Quality Standards and Requirements.
    • Supervise the activities of the Contractors and Lafarge Third Party Operators through proper implementation of Lafarge Contractor Safety Management Standards (CSM)
    • Monitor Production activities to comply with Group Environmental Standards and maintain good housekeeping at all time.
    • Monitor the loading and off-loading of alternative fuel or other solid fuel in the plant
    • Participate in Plant Turn - Around Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and other Company Best Practices, Test drilling, Wrecking and Brick Laying Processes.
    • Contribute to maintaining equipment’s in good working condition through effective first level inspection and regularly monitoring of the equipments.
    • Inspect the equipment before and after usage in order to analyze the problem, and liase with Maintenance Department for corrective actions.
    • Carrying out first level inspection on all equipments and recommends steps to improve them.
    • Ensures Safety of Personnel and Equipment
    • Comply with EMS Production Instrumentation activities
    • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of integrated management system in the plant

    What we are looking for

    • Engineering degree in Mechanical / Electrical engineering 
    • 2- 5 years postgraduate experience.
    • Thorough working knowledge of cement making process, related equipment, and plant layout.
    • Complete familiarity with all material conveyance systems and methods
    • Aptitude for, and demonstrate ability in, wide variety of mechanical and electrical skills
    • Operates specialized equipment such as low gauge guns, power shots
    • Able to operate mobile equipment including Bobcat and forklift
    • Able to perform heavy lifting/physically demanding work for prolonged periods of time
    • Working knowledge of equipment operation procedure.
    • Able to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills
    • Good communication skills for use with co-workers, truck drivers, completing reports, etc

    Security Operative, Mfamosing

    The Security Operative (SO) is responsible for keeping Lafarge Africa and suppliers’ staff, visitors, and similar safe & secure. Based on shift work rotation the SO will be in the plant between eight and twelve hours, also on weekends, and supervise all security related activities while in parallel supervise and support all company transport activities.

    What you'll be doing

    • Responsible for the protection of the company’s PEARL (People, Environment, Assets, Reputation & Legal Exposure) in the South-East Region under the direction of the Security Manager South-East.
    • Support the supervision of the Private Security Provider, ensuring they fulfil their contractual obligations. Conduct supervisory checks on the 3rd party security provider and the services provided such as random checks at guard locations in Mfamosing Plant (MFA) and Calabar, joining vehicular patrols and ensuring all standards agreed are being fulfilled. To be conducted utilising various online tools that are available.
    • Ensure Lafarge Health & Safety standards are adhered to.
    • Supervise and direct the armed security incident response force.
    • Supervise and direct security assets during crises periods and/or in case of direct assaults on company staff and/or assets.
    • Provide reliable and concise incident data and write accurate reports via the various company online tools.
    • Interact with the local PSF (Public Security Forces) in cases of (armed) attacks, intrusions, trespassing, fraud and theft.
    • Safeguard that all Security & Resilience Policies of the company are adhered to.
    • Act as a communicator between the Plant Management and Security Department when the Senior Security Operatives is not present.
    • Work in shifts ensuring there is a 24/7 security supervision function on duty.
    • Support with investigations and detailed report writing. Validate reporting independent of the Private Security Provider’s report.
    •  Conduct independent assessments and identify gaps in baseline physical security and notify/ advise both the Security Manager and Senior Security Operative.
    • Gather local intelligence on all aspects and issues to support and protect the business.
    • Create and maintain intelligence networks.
    • Reporting of incidents on the Group Security SINT platform.
    • Monitoring and supervision of CCTV operators, video evidence assessment and ongoing projects

    What we are looking for

    • OND minimum requirement 
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a security supervisory position
    • Security incident supervisory experience (incl. following up on complex incidents such as shootings, armed attacks, theft, and similar)
    • Experience of supervising teams and resources
    • Capability to drive Lafarge security standards in all business activities.
    • Be Microsoft Office proficient
    • Ability to produce different kind of vetted and accurate incident reports.

    Process Engineer

    The Process Engineer leads plant discussions and investigations to improve throughput, efficiency, quality, and environmental performance. Through data analysis, field measurements, and conversations with employees are able to diagnose issues and develop solutions to move the plant towards greater performance.

    What you'll be doing 

    • Makes positive contributions to the plant safety activities and initiatives.
    • Provides technical support to the plant’s production, quality, and environmental functions. Understands strategies, priorities, and optimization techniques that assist the plant in attainment of plant and company objectives.
    • Conduct inspections, measurements and operational assessment for shop assigned to you.
    • Follow-up actions / recommendations from findings with the responsible
    • Daily evaluates operations, processes, and trends through the use of audits and systematic approach, for example RCAs, Incidence assessment & reporting etc.
    • Provides technical support on implementation of new equipment and/or new procedures including training of plant personnel as required. Serves as mentor to CCR Operators in production and other departments.
    • Primary to the Process Engineer position is the coordination and participation in improvement of the Plant’s technical capabilities. The Process Engineer’s objectives are to initiate process optimization in collaboration with Quality, Production and Maintenance to ensure maximum and efficient utilization of the plant’s equipment. This position has a requirement of elevating the technical knowledge and practices of all facets of the operation.
    • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.
    • Initiate actions for de-bottlenecking equipment and Processes and engage with stakeholders to close the actions.
    • Design and contribute development of new systems, equipment and procedures and propose modifications of existing ones for continuous process improvement. Include economic and operational feasibility studies. Support commissioning and de-bottleneck new installations
    • Promote the increased use of AFR (if applicable): provide comprehensive technical expertise to evaluate AFR with respect to its impact on the process; develop and implement solutions to eliminate / reduce impact of AFR on the process operation
    • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of an Integrated management system (IMS) in the plant.

    What we are looking for 

    • Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering 
    • 5 years’ working experience with at least 3 years in cement Industry.
    • Good knowledge of cement manufacturing Process
    • Perform the measurements of a basic process: gas flow measurement, false air mapping etc.
    • Organize and perform an audit to any one area of a plant: Equipment/gas / thermal/ material balance of a kiln or a mill based on a pre-established model.
    • Audit reporting 
    • Tune a control loop.
    • Understand the strategy of an expert system. (HLC)
    • Good knowledge of statistical process control methods.
    • Good knowledge of project management methods.
    • Strong computer expertise in but not limited to: Excel,
    • Good knowledge of SAP, TIS, and PACT.
