Job Description

• The school nurse works with pupils, teachers and parents to promote good health and wellbeing in school age children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Raise awareness of issues that can have a negative effect on student health (such as smoking and drug abuse)
• To give first aid treatment to children and staff and escalate immediately any accidents to the Head of School or any other management staff in her absence
• To support children with medical needs e.g. asthma and administer drugs brought in by parents for a sick child
• Promote healthy living in the school and supervise all the stewards to ensure they work diligently.
• Supervise the nannies and cleaners and ensure that the bathrooms and general school environment is clean at all times. Also monitor the use of cleaning materials
• Keep records of treatment administered to individuals and write reports on a weekly basis for effective follow up
• Supervise and co-ordinate the distribution of the children’s lunch to various classes
• Ensure that the support staff are properly dressed at all times and attend to members of staff when necessary
• Ensure the sickbay is tidy and neat always, monitor the temperature in the classrooms and carry out checks (hourly) of the toilets
• In case of an emergency, the nurse is expected to accompany the child or children to the hospital after due consultation with management and the parent(s)
• Provide training to teachers on healthcare issues and advising on school health policy (at least once in a term)
• Attend to statutory duties during school holidays.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with proof of registration
• Bachelor's Degree
• 2-4 years experience.

Job Description
The School Librarian is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the library to ensure pupils, teachers and visitors have what they need to learn and explore topics of interest. Their duties include:

• Creating educational programs for different age groups
• Updating library databases and collaborating with Class Teachers to enhance a robust school wide reading culture.
• Organizing and managing all resources in the library for ease of access
• Assisting library visitors in conducting research and locating resources
• Creating community programs that increase library awareness
• Evaluating library inventory needs and placing orders
• Identifying technology needs and making recommendations
• Researching current trends and making recommendations for upgrade.

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of First Degree, preferably in Library and Information Science or related field with at least four years’ experience as a School Librarian.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Good time management skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to manage projects and give presentations
• Research skills
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
