    Communication Officer (COMMO)

    Job Description

    • Sasakawa Africa Association (SM) Nigeria requires the services of a dynamic, proactive Communications Officer who can work independently while also working as part of a team to deliver high quality results to enhance SM’s work and raise its visibility.
    • S/he must be able to use modern technologies and social networks to communicate in real time, the core achievements of the Country Program. In consultation with the Country Team and the Head of Communications and Advocacy at the Regional Office,
    • S/he must ensure the overall planning, implementation, coordination, supervision and reporting of communication activities at the national level.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Develops a country communication strategy
    • Raises the profile of SAA country program through strategic communication
    • Uses SAA’s branding to improve its visibility as an International NGO to donors and strategic partners
    • In collaboration with the Country Team, organizes and coordinates agricultural field and media field days and make appropriate documentation, reporting and follow up with media houses
    • Working with the Country Director and in collaboration with the Regional Communications Unit to coordinate the organizations public relations engagement and regularly update social media platforms with up to date, accurate and quality information in accordance with SAA communications guidelines
    • Develops and consolidates strong media networks to increase outreach with ly partners, policy makers, donors and other stakeholders.
    • Manages and maintains a progressive database of partners, collaborators, service providers and associates by collaboration with the technical and administration units.
    • Documents and communicates program results/success stories through appropriate strategies (lessons learnt, impact stories, photographs and short videos).
    • Identifies communication gaps and develops and conducts communications related trainings for technical and field staff.
    • Manages the organization’s key events and any other PR functions including issuance of press releases.
    • Collaborates with SM management to identify new communications platforms and ideas, and design effective communication strategies as well as establish and maintain effective relationships with media houses.
    • Assists in partnership and fund-raising matter
    • Ensures all organizational events are well documented (reports, photos and videos)

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism or any other related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
    • At least three years’ experience in communications and media relations preferably in development programmes
    • Candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of various media applications and channels of communications.
    • Practical proven skills in photography and videography.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to write policy briefs as well as publishing in journals.

    Program Officer for Regenerative Agriculture (C-RA)

    Job Description

    • The Program Officer for Regenerative Agriculture assists the Coordinator and Senior Program Officer for Regenerative Agriculture in carrying out activities that contribute to the implementation of crop productivity within the value chain extension approach to attain SM goals.
    • S/he complements the job of the Coordinator PA and is tasked with specific technical responsibilities.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Assist PA Coordinator in planning and budgeting PA activities of the organization.
    • Assist on PA needs assessment and contribute to baseline survey in selected sites in collaboration with other themes.
    • Support PA Coordinator to develop and implement training programs to promote productivity enhancing value-chains in selected sites.
    • Support in planning, organizing, coordinating and conduct training on PA for Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs)/Extension agents (EAs) and farmers, especially women, youth & People with Disabilities (PwDs).
    • Support and participate in selection of project sites for implementation of planned activities, in collaboration with stakeholders, especially Agricultural Offices.
    • Ensure that inputs required for the Project activities are timely procured and distributed to the respective project sites.
    • Assist in implementing and managing PA program including monitoring progress and ensuring timely completion of program activities.
    • Collect data and maintain the database of PA activities.
    • Backstop project activities through regular field visits to provide technical guidance and advice to the extension field staff and other stakeholders on time and collect yield and economic data, analyze and produce field reports.
    • Assist in organizing and coordinating value-chain activities such as Farmers’ Field Days, Agricultural Shows and Experience sharing Tours at appropriate sites, in collaboration with partner Agricultural Offices and other stakeholders.
    • Provide feedback to thematic colleagues and partners on technology selection, performance (agronomic and economic) and impacts through demonstrations, meetings and reports.
    • Assist PA Coordinator in preparing monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual technical reports.
    • Participate actively in inter theme activities along the value-chain.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • B.Sc / M.Sc in Agriculture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, Agriculture extension, or relevant education
    • 5/7 years working experience on relevant field respectively
    • English Proficiency: Level B2 (Especially writing skills)
    • Microsoft Office: Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel. Power point should be intermediate
    • Basic knowledge of Biometry, Experimental Design and Statistical analysis and good reporting skill
    • Project implementation skills
    • Skills in using ICT (GPS and e-extension tool)
    • Basic agri-business skills.

    Program Officer, Business Development (PO - BD)

    Job Description

    • The PO BD, assists the BD Coordinator in carrying out activities that contribute to the implementation of value- chain extension approach to attain SAA goal.
    • S/he complements the job of the BD Coordinator and is tasked with specific technical responsibilities.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • In Collaboration with BD Coordinator, leading a team of extension officers, coordinating, supervising and monitoring field-based activities related to the value- chain Development;
    • Organize training of the Commodity Associations Trainers (CATs) to ensure that they are efficiently and appropriately trained to undertake the requirements of their responsibilities as trainers and developers. Share back to office reports with BD Coordinator;
    • Support the development and emergence of VC business services providers to support CA5/FBO development;
    • Encourage the establishment of village saving and loan associations and facilitate linkages between finance/credit institutions and farmer groups;
    • Train farmers, CAs and FBO5 on contract negotiation and management. Strengthen farmer access to extension services from input suppliers and project partners;
    • Assist BD Theme Coordinator to develop Financial packages /models in collaboration with agro processors, input dealers, traders, and micro finance institutions (MFI) to increase farmers access to credit and other services;
    • Assist BD Theme Coordinator to develop and strengthen market information system, e-extension among key stakeholders in the value chain;
    • Build strong farmers /CNFBOs in villages participating in the value-chain;
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisors.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Bachelor's or MA / M.Sc Degree in Agri-Business, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture extension, Business Management, or in any other related field;
    • 5/7 years of experience on relevant field respectively
    • English Proficiency: Level C2 (Especially writing skills)
    • English proficiency: Intermediate
    • French Proficiency: Advanced
    • Strong oral, analytical, writing and presentational skills.

    Assistant Accountant

    Job Description

    • Accounts staff are mainly recruited for projects in Country Offices. Their rnain job is to handle the project by coding, verifying, posting and preparing payroll and personnel income tax. Mainly they assist the Finance Coordinator in financial reporting

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Follow up on staff advance retirements
    • Check staff and partners retirements for completeness and accuracy
    • Together with the Accountant, post PV5 and JV5 in Peachtree as at when due
    • Together with the Accountant, perform bank reconciliation on monthly basis.
    • Prepare payment voucher and write cheques when the need arises.
    • Disburse cash for field activities.
    • Assist the Finance Coordinator to register fixed assets and carryout inventory count annually.
    • Ensure that all assets of the organization are tagged.
    • Reconcile staff advance account.
    • Ensure proper filling of accounts documents
    • Perform any other duties as assigned.

     Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Minimum requirement: Graduate of account with 3-4 years experience in accounting and finance.

    • Ability to use accounting software (e.g., Peachtree)
    • Ability to adhere to SAA and local government financial procedures, regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
