JOB SUMMARY

• Forklift operators are responsible for optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency, scheduling the Machines for maintenance and repairs, and managing inventory by utilizing equipment, among other duties.
• Forklift operators will need to transport valuable items, requiring diligence and good hand-eye coordination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

• Loading and unloading raw materials such as off-cut, recycled paper, and chemicals, as well as finished paper products onto trucks, containers, and storage areas using forklifts.
• Handling paper rolls, pallets, and other materials with care to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
• Organizing warehouse and storage areas within the factory to optimize space utilization and facilitate efficient material handling and production processes.
• Safely and proficiently operating forklifts to transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment within the factory.
• Conducting routine maintenance checks on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition, reporting any issues to maintenance staff, and performing minor repairs as needed.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies regarding forklift operation, workplace safety, and environmental standards.
• Assisting with inventory management by accurately recording materials movement and inventory levels in paper mill storage areas.
• Communicating effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel to coordinate tasks, prioritize activities, and ensure smooth operations in the factory.
• Picking and wrapping orders for shipment.
• Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others, especially when handling heavy loads and operating in confined spaces.
• Participating in training programs to enhance forklift operation skills, safety awareness, and knowledge of paper mill processes and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENT

• Minimum of Trade Test 1,2,3, Technical college Certificate or any related discipline
• Minimum of 4 years work experience
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Proficiency in operating technical machinery diligently.
• Good physical condition.
• Good organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensures machinery and mechanical equipment operation by completing predictive and preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometres, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

Requirements

• Minimum Educated Level – HND with 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• Computer literacy and AutoCAD 
• Strong time management skills
• Experienced in industrial Manufacturing

Skills and Competencies

• Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.
• Ability to wield, fabricate and use lathe machines is very key to the role.
• Knowledge and repairs of pneumatics, production and process management, hydraulic machines and basic knowledge of electrical motor maintenance.
• Knowledge and repairs of utility equipment such as boilers, compressors, generators, forklift maintenance, pumps etc.
• Experience reading and interpreting mechanical, structural and mechanical drawings
