    Fleet Manager

    Job Description

    • The Fleet manager is responsible to the head of operations in ensuring effective and efficient daily haulage operations in the department for the purpose of rendering haulage services to our clients.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure proper supervision on daily haulage scheduling and deployment of all trucks assigned to the clients, in-liaison with the head of fleet operations and senior fleet manager
    • Ensure that loading orders are met, and goods loaded are delivered to appropriate destinations only and inform on issues /developments while enroute and when delivered
    • Ensure loaded trucks/trips are updated on instanta software
    • Monitor the service mileage of assigned trucks to ensure servicing within the approved service limits
    • Ensure that the total tonnage of stock loaded by clients does not exceed the tonnage capacity
    • Ensure trucks are moving according to prescribed speed limits and escalates violation
    • Ensure delivery officers are fully kitted with PPE while on site and on the road
    • Capture trips regularly and ensure pre and post trip briefing of delivery officers
    • Liaise with client field officers to sort-out operational issues that may arise from time to time
    • Inspect assigned trucks, trailers, vehicle accessories and documents, and safety kits
    • Ensure prompt reporting, documentation of all incidents, accidents, and insurance claims within the assigned fleet to achieve minimal downtime
    • Ensure that all truck accessories are up to dates, to reduce time and in transit delays
    • Use tracking platform to monitor and report daily position and daily activities of trucks to achieve on time delivery, trip cycle days, improved drivers’ productivity, good trucking turnover
    • Ensure that appropriate fuel is issued on instanta to trucks for delivery assignment based on approved chart and fuel consumption
    • Compile transport data 1- EDD and ensure both legs are 100% availability
    • Compile transport data 2- fuel tracker to ensure delivery officer meets up with standard
    • Ensure timely collection of pods / waybills from the drivers
    • Escalate major issues to the senior fleet manager and the head of fleet operations

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or related field.
    • Relevant and recognised professional certifications
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet operations, logistics, or transportation management
    • Proven experience in a logistics company

    Technical Skills:

    • Knowledge of GPS tracking systems
    • Familiarity with relevant transportation laws
    • Proficiency in dispatch and routing techniques
    • Strong fleet management knowledge
    • Knowledge of transportation
    • Experience with fleet management software and technology
    • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

    Fleet Supervisor

    Responsibilities
    Fleet Management:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the company's fleet of vehicles.
    • Ensure the fleet is utilized efficiently to meet operational needs.
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet performance and reduce costs.

    Vehicle Maintenance:

    • Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance and repairs for all vehicles.
    • Ensure all vehicles are in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain detailed records of vehicle maintenance and repair activities.

    Driver Management:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise drivers to ensure they adhere to company policies and safety standards.
    • Monitor driver performance and address any issues promptly.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to drivers.

    Vehicle Allocations:

    • Manage the allocation of vehicles for various tasks and assignments.
    • Ensure vehicles are available and ready for use as per the schedule.
    • Coordinate with other departments to meet their transport needs.

    Safety and Compliance:

    • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures for drivers and vehicles.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws and regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

    Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare and submit regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance, and driver management.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transport-related activities.
    • Provide insights and recommendations for improving transport operations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field (preferred).
    • 4 - 10 years of experience in fleet management, vehicle maintenance, and driver management.
    • Strong knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
