A Civil Engineer plays a vital role in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the physical infrastructure and facilities within an educational institution.
They ensure that the school’s buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and conducive to the learning environment.
Requires a combination of engineering expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to creating a safe and efficient educational environment.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with school administrators and stakeholders to assess the school’s infrastructure needs.
Develop long-term infrastructure plans to accommodate the school’s growth and changing requirements.
Design and Construction (this element will only be partly required in the first 2 years)
Prepare architectural and engineering designs for new construction or renovation projects.
Oversee the construction process, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations. Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
Coordinate with contractors, architects, and other professionals involved in construction projects.
Conduct regular inspections of school buildings, grounds, and utilities to identify maintenance and repair needs.
Qualification, Experience and Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Strong project management skills.
Experience in new facility handover from contractor to client and phased building projects.
Experience working in an educational or similar environment.
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
The ability to understand, translate, and communicate complex building and building services drawings.
The ability to think both strategically and pragmatically with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
