    VSLA & Income Generation Activities Officer (Open to Nationals Only)

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The VSLA & Income Generation Activities offcier would provide overall supervision and promotes and values participatory approaches to the field staff throughout the project cycle (identification of beneficiaries, awareness raising and sensitisation, Livelihood project activities, Pre and Post Activities Monitoring (PDM) as well as monitoring and evaluation under direct supervision of Livelihood Deputy Project Manager, specifically on Tailoring, Food Processing/vending, Milling Services Management, Fish Processing various handcraft and Small & Medium Enterprises, VSLA, Capacity building etc.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Management

    • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities, donors’ program staff during field visits and other key stakeholders;
    • Lead the field team in Planning, Coordinating, Monitoring and Reporting all INTERSOS’s field Livelihood-related activities in the area of Tailoring, Food Processing/vending, Milling Services management, Fish Processing, handcraft and Small & Medium Enterprises, VSLA, capacity building etc
    • Supervise and Manage Livelihood projects (as mentioned above) implementation at Field Level in line with proposals including strategies and donor requirements;
    • Provide primary field level information / Assessment / targeting / Analysis to elaborate project concept notes and proposals for submission to Livelihood Deputy Project Manager;
    • Ensure adherence to INTERSOS policies, guidance and procedures at field level;
    • Provide Livelihood activities reports (in the areas mentioned above) to the Livelihood Deputy Project Manager as required;
    • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager;
    • Ensure that the project targets the beneficiaries that are most vulnerable and most in need;
    • Participate in the development of relevant Livelihood projects, including monitoring, PDMs / assessment / verification process;
    • Ensure to identify and fill capacity building gap at the field level;

    • Support on developing the Livelihood Project assessments;

    • Manage the program implementation, including on issues on nutrition, protection and gender mainstreaming project cost and indicators, input, output & outcome at the field level;

    Line Management

    • Manage and Train all the relevant Livelihood project field staff in areas of Tailoring, Cap Making, Food Processing/vending, Carpentry, Milling Machine Management, Fishing Kits, Pasta Production, various hand-craft and Small & Medium Enterprises, VSLA, capacity building etc;
    • Identify technical gaps and support capacity building for technical line reports
    • Contribute to setting performance objectives and performance appraisals of technical staff in the same field
    • When necessary, and with approval of his/her line manager, provide stop-gap support in absence of Deputy Project Manager, in close coordination with team focal points (identified by the PM before his/her absence)

    Technical Support

    • Support in developing program strategy and priorities based on thorough understanding of needs and context
    • Implement technical direction for the livelihood project and ensure high technical quality of project at the field level;
    • Ensure that programme strategy, and design is integrated with other INTERSOS sectors
    • Support in development, harmonization, and roll out of SOPs, tools and guidelines
    • Provide regular technical support and guidance to Deputy Project Managers and other relevant staff in both a structured manner and on a case by case basis.
    • Ensure compliance with INTERSOS standards and procedures and alignment with global strategy, through regular coordination with colleagues in support services at Base Office and Field Offices level.
    • Coordinate with sector colleagues at Field level as appropriate about relevant issues
    • Support in providing technical review of all proposals and reports and other relevant sector-specific donor communications

    Quality Assurance

    • Ensure program implementation progress; identification, resolution and/or escalation of issues;
    • Work with M&E to implement the harmonized tools and databases to monitor and track efficiency and quality of programming and improve information management within the sector focal points
    • Work closely with M&E in implementation, and evaluation of sector-level programming
    • Coordinate with M&E to ensure accountability mechanisms are established for programming

    Other

    • Provide regular updates to Livelihood – Project manager (Nation/Expatriate)/ FSL Coordinator
    • Any other duties as agreed with Project manager (Expatriate)/ FSL Coordinator.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • B.Sc Degree (Any relevant degree).
    • Further qualification in business management will be an added advantage
    • Minimum 3 years of experience from at national level project implementation position in a humanitarian / developmental context;
    • Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts;
    • Technical Livelihood expertise (IGAs and SMEs, and WFP Cash for Work program);
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
    • Experience in leadership and problem solving;
    • Fluency in English, both written and oral including local language ad advantage;

    Livelihood - Project Manager (Open to Nationals Only)

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The Livelihood PM should provide overall supervision to the activities implemented within the framework of the project, ensuring that they are delivered following the project proposal agreed upon with the donor, and that these activities are achieving timely results under direct supervision of Food Security & Livelihood Project Manager. During absence of Food Security and Livelihood Project Manager, position will be wholly accountable for project under direct supervision of Head of program.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Management

    • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities, donors’ program staff during field visits and other key stakeholders for a coordinated implementation of project activities;
    • Lead in Planning, Coordinating, Monitoring and Reporting all INTERSOS’s field Livelihood-related activities, including Natural Resource Management, Crop Production, Income Generation activities, Small scale Agricultural Marketing Strategy, Post-Harvest Management, Livestock Management (Poultry Farming, cattle breeding etc), Communual and Individual Assets creation and rehabilitation, Cash/Food for Work activities etc
    • Coordinate, supervise and manage Livelihood projects implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals including strategies and donor requirements (And any advice by management);
    • Provide primary level information / Assessment / targeting / Analysis to elaborate project concept notes and proposals for submission to Food Security & Livelihood Project Manager;
    • Ensure adherence to INTERSOS policies, guidance and procedures at field level;
    • Provide Livelihood activities reports to the Food Security & Livelihood Project Manager as required;
    • Provide regular progress reports including draft PAT to the Food Security & Livelihood Project Manager;

    Line Management

    • Manage all the Livelihood project staff including including issues gender main streaming and ensuring protection protocols are in-line with project;
    • Development of harmonized job descriptions and structures in all field offices
    • Participate in the recruitment of technical staff in the same field
    • Identify technical gaps and support capacity building for technical line reports
    • Contribute to setting performance objectives and performance appraisals of technical staff in the same field
    • When necessary, and with approval of his/her line manager, provide stop-gap support in absence of PMs, in close coordination with team focal points (identified by the PM before his/her absence)

    Technical Support

    • Support in developing program strategy and priorities based on thorough understanding of needs and context
    • Implement technical direction for the livelihood project and ensure high technical quality of project;
    • Ensure that programme strategy, and design is integrated with other INTERSOS sectors

    • Provide regular technical support and guidance to Activities Leads and other relevant staff in both a structured manner and on a case by case basis.
    • Assure compliance with INTERSOS standards and procedures and alignment with global strategy, through regular coordination with colleagues in support services at Base Office and Field Offices level.
    • Coordinate with sector colleagues at Base Office and HQ levels as appropriate about relevant issues
    • Complete regular field visits to ensure technical oversight and support, identify needs, and ensure quality programming

    • Lead the field team in Planning, Coordinating, Monitoring and Reporting all INTERSOS’s field Livelihood-related activities in the area of Natural Resource Management, Reforestation, Nursery management, Crop Production, Seasonal Farming, Vegetable gardening, homestead farming, Home gardening, Small scale Agricultural Marketing Strategy, Post-Harvest Management, irrigation management, water harvesting, capacity building etc
    • Supervise and Manage Livelihood projects (as mentioned above) implementation at Field Level in line with proposals including strategies and donor requirements;
    • Provide primary field level information / Assessment / targeting / Analysis to elaborate project concept notes and proposals for submission to Livelihood - DPM;
    • Ensure adherence to INTERSOS policies, guidance and procedures at field level;
    • Provide Livelihood activities reports (in the areas mentioned above) to the Livelihood - DPM as required;
    • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager and DPM;
    • Ensure that the project targets the beneficiaries that meets the project criteria;
    • Participate in the development of relevant Livelihood projects, including monitoring, PDMs / assessment / verification process;
    • Ensure to identify and fill capacity building gap at the field level;
    • Support design and coordination of proposals and projects, in coordination with Livelihood - DPM.
    • Support on developing the Livelihood Project assessments;
    • Map donor priorities within given sector and identify new opportunities;
    • Manage the program implementation, including on issues on nutrition, protection and gender mainstreaming project cost and indicators, input, output & outcome at the field level;

    Line Management

    • Manage and Train all the relevant Livelihood project field staff in areas of Natural Resource Management, Reforestation, Nursery Management, Crop Production, Seasonal Farming, Vegetable gardening, homestead farming, Home gardening, Small scale Agricultural Marketing Strategy, Post-Harvest Management, irrigation management, water harvesting etc;
    • Identify technical gaps and support capacity building for technical line reports
    • Contribute to setting performance objectives and performance appraisals of technical staff in the same field
    • When necessary, and with approval of his/her line manager, provide stop-gap support in absence of - DPM, in close coordination with team focal points (identified by the PM before his/her absence)

    Technical Support

    • Support in developing program strategy and priorities based on thorough understanding of needs and context
    • Implement technical direction for the livelihood project and ensure high technical quality of project at the field level;
    • Ensure that programme strategy, and design is integrated with other INTERSOS sectors
    • Support in development, harmonization, and roll out of SOPs, tools and guidelines
    • Provide regular technical support and guidance to DPMs and other relevant staff in both a structured manner and on a case by case basis.
    • Ensure compliance with INTERSOS standards and procedures and alignment with global strategy, through regular coordination with colleagues in support services at Base Office and Field Offices level.
    • Coordinate with sector colleagues at Field level as appropriate about relevant issues
    • Support in providing technical review of all proposals and reports and other relevant sector-specific donor communications

    Quality Assurance

    • Ensure program implementation progress; identification, resolution and/or escalation of issues;
    • Work with M&E to implement the harmonized tools and databases to monitor and track efficiency and quality of programming and improve information management within the sector focal points
    • Work closely with M&E in implementation, and evaluation of sector-level programming
    • Coordinate with M&E to ensure accountability mechanisms are established for programming

    Other

    • Provide regular updates to Livelihood – Project manager / FSL - PM
    • Any other duties as agreed with Livelihood – Pm or DPM

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • B.Sc Degree in Agricultural Science
    • Further qualification in crop production or related subject will be an added advantage
    • Minimum 3 years of experience from at national level project implementation position in a humanitarian / developmental context;
    • Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts;
    • Technical Livelihood expertise (Natural Resources Management, Crop Production, Water & Irrigation Management, Construction, Post-Harvest Management, ;
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
    • Experience in leadership and problem solving;
    • Fluency in English, both written and oral including local language ad advantage;

    Agricultural Engineer (Open to Nationals Only)

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The project seek to recruit an engineer with solid foundation in electrical system installation and farm management. The Agricultural Engineer position would provide overall supervision and promotes and values participatory approaches to the field staff throughout the project cycle, specifically on Solar Power system installation for farm site and communal, farm Irrigation system installation and maintenance, farm greenhouse installation & Capacity Building etc.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Management

    Agricultural Infrastructure Installation & Maintenance

    • Designs farm buildings, greenhouses, and storage facilities.
    • Works on renewable energy solutions for farms Design, install, and maintain solar energy systems for sustainable power supply.
    • Conduct site assessments to determine feasibility and optimal system placement.
    • Ensure electrical safety standards are met during installation and operation.

    Irrigation & Water Management

    • Designs and implements efficient irrigation systems to optimize water usage.
    • Develops drainage solutions to prevent soil erosion and waterlogging.
    • Works on water conservation techniques for sustainable farming.

    Borehole Pump Electrical Systems

    • Install, test, and maintain electrical components of borehole pumps for water supply.
    • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults to maintain uninterrupted water access.
    • Optimize pump efficiency through proper electrical system calibration.

    Food Processing & Storage

    • Designs post-harvest storage solutions to reduce food waste.
    • Develops processing techniques for agricultural products.
    • Works on food safety and packaging innovations.

    Livelihood Hub Equipment Installation & Support

    • Set up and maintain solar powered equipment within livelihood hubs.
    • Ensure equipment operates efficiently, meeting community development needs.
    • Develop preventative maintenance schedules for all installed systems.

    Livestock Management:

    • Develop waste management solutions to ensure environmental sustainability.
    • Improve housing structures for livestock to enhance productivity and health.
    • Implement biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.

    Farm Machinery & Equipment

    • Recommend efficient farm machinery and equipment.
    • Recommend efficient systems for precision agriculture.
    • Ensures maintenance and efficiency of farm equipment

    Training & Capacity Building

    • Conduct technical training sessions for local participants on equipment operation.
    • Develop user-friendly training manuals on equipment maintenance procedures.
    • Provide ongoing support to enhance community knowledge and self-reliance.

    Compliance & Documentation

    • Ensure compliance with International electrical codes and safety regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and training activities.
