    BackEnd Engineer

    Description
    Here are a couple of things you'll be doing:

    • Designing, building and maintaining scalable software systems that power our products and infrastructures.

    Requirements
    We are looking for someone who has:

    • At least 4 years of experience building production applications with Javascript (and Typescript), Express, Node.js, MySQL.
    • Understanding of fundamental database concepts – relational (SQL) database, non-relational (NoSQL) database and ORMs/ODMs.
    • Experience with unit and integration testing, and testing frameworks/libraries.

    Data Analyst

    Department: Operations

    Description

    • We are building the data function at Kora and are looking for a Data Analyst to help drive data-informed decisions. An ideal candidate is someone who loves solving business problems with data and is able to tell stories with data.
    • Being our first data hire, you will take the lead in building out the data function at Kora, which may include building dashboards, ensuring the overall quality of analytics, and constantly striving to enhance data quality, adequateness and granularity. Building and maintaining core data sets and metrics, helping teams design experiments and running in-depth follow-up analyses, and supporting, educating, and providing guidance to teams on their decisions.
    • As you will serve as a strategic partner for a couple of stakeholders, our ideal Data Analyst is someone who has the ability to understand the stakeholders’ needs and seek out the best solution through different sources. You will also be responsible for the deep analysis of data and then determining the best way to represent it visually to managers and stakeholders.

    About the Job
    What you will be expected to do at Kora:

    • Data Analysis: Determine the necessary data required to solve a wide variety of business problems; extract required data, and draw conclusions and recommendations.
    • Insights: Share actionable insight after analysis across all the teams at Kora, helping them correctly engage with the data to improve our business and product, creating a seamless customer experience, and making data-informed decisions.
    • Data Strategy: Shape our BI and data infrastructure. Build self-service tools to enable business users.
    • Help design, execute and evaluate A/B tests to improve the user journey and growth.
    • Determine the optimal tooling to unlock insights from Kora's data.
    • Proactively contribute to, own, create, track OKRs for the Operations team, keeping them accountable throughout the quarter.
    • Partner with the different teams in Kora to help estimate and measure the impact of our changes on growth as well as identify other levels which can drive volume.
    • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
    • Set the direction for the analytics function at Kora and oversee the growth of the team.
    • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
    • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business processes and decisions.

    Requirements
    Here’s what we are looking for:

    • You have a background working in similar data-driven roles and 3+ years of experience in analytics.
    • Strong familiarity with SQL, data visualization tools, and working knowledge of Python or R
    • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc)
    • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc).
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • You’ve successfully set up and run A/B tests before and have a strong understanding of testing and experimental design.
    • Storytelling ability with data.
    • You’re a self-starter who is initiative-driven and comfortable working autonomously
    • You’ve worked in cross-functional teams involving Product, Engineering, Design and, can manage senior stakeholders

    Frontend Engineer

    Here are a couple of things you'll be doing:

    • Create and maintain our external and internal web apps.
    • Collaborate with other engineers to spec, write, test, and deploy production-ready code.

    Operations Compliance Associate

    Department: Compliance

    Description

    • As an Operations Compliance Associate at Korapay, you will be responsible for developing the ensuring internal compliance with extant regulations, creating and maintaining awareness of compliance obligations within the operations, legal, HR, & finance business units and managing required internal reporting to the lead, compliance.

    Outcomes:

    • Develop and run a world-class compliance program across the different business units (Legal, HR, Operations and Finance), different financial services products and multiple jurisdictions.

    Here are a couple of things you'll be doing:

    • Provide support and advice on compliance issues e.g. all business units, new products, new jurisdictions, new regulatory initiatives.
    • Monitor activities within the operations & finance units and identify & investigate potential problem areas.
    • Assist the Business units with the resolution of compliance/audit issues.
    • Conduct monitoring exercises in operations, legal, HR & finance units.
    • Assist as and when required, in the development, drafting, and updating of procedures/processes/policies and related training programmes/manuals and the delivery of training that is tailored to the operations & finance units needs.
    • Monitor effectively the level of compliance with policies such as Consumer protection policy, Dispute resolution policy, corporate governance, human resources, and Merchant success SOP.
    • Keep abreast with Korapay’s AML operations, standards, and controls.
    • Develop monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc exception reports.
    • Escalate significant regulatory non-compliance matters and developments to the Team Lead, Compliance.
    • Ensure deployment and tracking of RCSA within the Operations, HR, Legal and Finance Team.
    • Assist in compliance measures and determine appropriate remedial action plans (including, where necessary, timeframes and responsibilities).
    • Evaluate transactions and customer relationships based on established protocol identifying issues and escalating for further investigation.
    • Help to foster a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with the business, internal controls functions, and other Compliance professionals to ensure that best practices and systems are in place to facilitate business growth and the overall success of business in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policy.
    • Provide business continuity and disaster recovery management and testing.
    • Help provide project management support on compliance-related projects and initiatives, as requested, to ensure they progress toward a common goal in alignment with agreed timelines.
    • Provide assistance to other investigators when necessary/requested
    • Plan and implement audit, inspections, investigations, verifications, self-assessment, and other control activities to ensure the organization adheres to a set of internal policy, procedures, and applicable laws / Regulations
    • Track and follow-up corrective and preventive actions from audits, investigation, meetings, and other action sources to ensure timely and quality completion
    • Responsible for maintenance, storage, updates, and control of company policies, procedures, documents, records, and other information assets
    • Assist in maintaining dashboard and tasks monitoring, as well as overseeing the work of junior ad hoc admin staff.

    Requirements

    • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Compliance or Internal Control Officer or similar role experience in a B2B environment, FinTech services, or banking industry.
    • Certification - CFE/CIA/CAMS
    • Proven experience in Cards processing or mobile money operations.
    • Knowledge of the Transaction dispute (Settlements, reconciliations and chargeback).
    • Ability to spotcheck & monitor the finance and cost management process.
    • Understanding the complex interactions of regulatory frameworks in the international finance space
    • Knowledge of MPGS and Visa processing
    • Experience in a high-growth team and/or startup experience.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communications, analytical, and project management skills.
    • Thorough knowledge of products, services, operations, and systems and extensive dealing with laws, regulations, and regulatory agencies related to assigned areas.
