    Access Network Specialist (Tier-2 / Simple Facilities Operator)

    Position Overview

    • As an Access Network Specialist at our Tier-2/Simple Facilities Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our access network infrastructure
    • Your role will primarily focus on radio frequency planning, transmission/microwave planning, and power planning to optimize network performance and provide reliable connectivity to our customers
    • Additionally, you will be required to liaise with the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) engineering team to coordinate network activities and ensure seamless integration.

    Key Responsibilities

    Radio Frequency Planning:

    • Conduct radio frequency planning activities to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and quality of service.
    • Perform site surveys and evaluate propagation models to determine suitable antenna placements.
    • Design and optimize radio access networks (RAN) to minimize interference and maximize network performance.
    • Analyze radio network statistics, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective measures.

    Transmission / Microwave Planning:

    • Plan and design transmission links and microwave systems to enable efficient data transfer across the network.
    • Perform capacity planning and optimization for microwave backhaul links.
    • Ensure proper alignment, antenna height, and clear line-of-sight for microwave links.
    • Collaborate with vendors and equipment suppliers to procure and configure microwave equipment.

    Power Planning:

    • Determine power requirements for access network equipment, including base stations, antennas, and transmission systems.
    • Calculate power budgets and conduct load analysis to ensure adequate power supply and backup solutions.
    • Optimize power consumption to minimize energy costs and environmental impact.
    • Develop and implement power management strategies to enhance network reliability and uptime.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the access network, including signal strength, call drops, and data throughput.
    • Identify network performance issues and implement appropriate optimization techniques.
    • Conduct drive tests and field measurements to assess network coverage and performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve network-related problems.

    Liaison with MNO Engineering Team:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for coordinating network activities with the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) engineering team.
    • Collaborate with MNO counterparts to ensure seamless integration of access network infrastructure with the MNO's core network.
    • Share network plans, performance reports, and optimization initiatives with the MNO engineering team.
    • Coordinate joint network planning exercises and resolve any inter-operator coordination issues.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records and documentation of network planning activities, configurations, and changes.
    • Prepare regular reports on network performance, capacity utilization, and optimization initiatives.
    • Contribute to the development of network planning guidelines, processes, and standards.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
    • Strong knowledge of access network planning principles, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Experience in radio frequency planning, transmission/microwave planning, and power planning within the telecommunications industry, preferably in a Tier-2/Simple Experience in MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) or MNO environment.
    • Proficiency in using network planning and optimization tools and software.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and spectrum management in the Nigerian telecommunications industry.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

    Telecom Project Manager (Tier-2 MVNO Network Infrastructure)

    Position Overview

    • We are seeking a Telecom Project Manager to oversee the successful implementation of Tier-2 network infrastructure projects
    • The Telecom Project Manager will be responsible for managing a team of specialists, including IN/VAS/BOSS, NOC, Core Network, and Access Network specialists
    • Reporting directly to the Senior Telecom Project Manager, the Telecom Project Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient rollout of our network infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    Project Planning and Execution:

    • Develop project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, and resource allocation, in collaboration with the Senior Telecom Project Manager.
    • Coordinate and oversee the execution of Tier-2 network infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
    • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and take proactive measures to mitigate issues.

    Team Management and Coordination:

    • Manage a team of IN/VAS/BOSS, NOC, Core Network, and Access Network specialists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
    • Foster collaboration and effective communication among team members and stakeholders involved in the project.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, engineering teams, and operations teams.
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Communicate project updates, progress reports, and any relevant issues to the Senior Telecom Project Manager and other stakeholders as required.

    Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in network infrastructure deployment.
    • Implement quality control measures to ensure that network infrastructure meets the required standards for reliability, performance, and scalability.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and rectify any quality issues promptly.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, technical specifications, and risk assessments.
    • Generate regular reports on project status, key performance indicators, and resource utilization for senior management review.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. PMP or PRINCE2 or SCRUM Master Certification is a plus.
    • Proven experience (5-10 years) in telecom project management, specifically in the rollout of MNO or Tier-2 network infrastructure.
    • In-depth knowledge of telecom networks, protocols, and technologies, with a focus on IN/VAS/BOSS, NOC, Core Network, and Access Network domains.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team of specialists.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

    • network technologies and protocols, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues efficiently. The Core Network Specialist will work closely with the engineering and operations teams to deliver reliable and efficient services to our customers.

    Responsibilities

    Core Network Operations:

    • Monitor, operate, and maintain the core network infrastructure (IPMPLS routers, GMSC, SBC, MGW/BGF, MME, STP/DRA, SGSN/GGSN, SMSC etc.), including switches, routers, gateways, and servers.
    • Ensure the availability, performance, and capacity of the core network elements, adhering to service level agreements (SLAs) and quality of service (QoS) requirements.
    • Perform routine checks, inspections, and system audits to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
    • Respond to network incidents and outages, troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and implement timely resolutions.
    • Collaborate with other teams, such as network engineering, to implement network changes, upgrades, and enhancements.

    Network Performance and Optimization:

    • Analyze network performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
