As a consequence of this awareness, he has been a strong advocate for the establishment of educational institutions focused on identified aspects of national... read more development, it was from this perspective that he committedly pursed the improvement of the standards and quality of education in the defunct Midwest State when he became its Commissioner for Education in January ,1968.
It was therefore not surprising that it was during his tenure as Commissioner for Education (under the government of Ogbemudia), that the Midwest government decided and established the University of Benin (UNIBEN). He was the first Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of that University. Based on his very early recognition of the critical role of technology education in national development, he was appointed Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna in 1983.
