    Workshop Supervisor, Ewekoro

    JOB SUMMARY

    Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance works for mobile equipment in order to achieve highest availability level and best utility of the resources from labor, tools and materials.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Understand and comply with HSE policies to assume that HSE are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiative at the plant and assist the department as needed to improve HSE performance and results
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas 
    • Ensures safe working conditions and good safe practices are applied at work.
    • Ensure the smooth and safe running of the automobile workshop, Plan maintenance schedules, roster and supervise staffs and ensure best practices are followed. 
    • Supervises maintenance functions for the maintenance shop. 
    • Ensure quality via supervision of work and stage inspections, availability of tools and materials.
    • Allocation of work and deployment of staff, verification of timing and proper opening and closing of job.
    • Ensure cleanliness of work premises and good house-keeping by eliminating trash.
    • Supervises maintenance functions for the maintenance shop.
    • Oversees maintenance and repair of equipment, both in the shop and at the project sites.
    • Ensures that all equipment is completely inspected at least once a year and is calibrated based on the manufacturer’s recommendations or government standard.
    • Reviews employee training to ensure a skilled mechanic workforce.
    • Ensures the maintenance shop is properly maintained, functional and clean.
    • Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance schedule on equipment.
    • Establishes service schedules on equipment for warranty compliance.
    • Supports on the job projects including identifying all sources of equipment maintenance, fueling, repair and spare parts.
    • Establishes productivity expectations and tracks the production and activity of the mechanic workforce.
    • Manages the inbound and outbound inspection process.
    • Ensures the ready status of idle equipment.
    • Participates in the equipment evaluation process to determine buy/sell needs. Also, purchases and sells new and used equipment as directed by Management.
    • Develops and maintains files on all equipment for historical data.
    • Maintains a positive working relationship with other department

    CONTEXT

    Plant Context

    • Effective and efficient running of quarry operations to achieve the set objectives of the plant in terms of raw material, output and cost.
    • Support proximity: support by CTC  

    REQUIRED PROFILE 

    • Complex mobile equipment problem solving skill with proven work experience in engine, transmission and hydraulic system overhaul.
    • Ability to carry out plant diagnostic tools. 
    • Good communication skill.

    Level of Education

    • HND/Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical engineering or other related field with at least 4 years’ experience in the Cement or similar industry
    • Minimum of 4-years’ experience as Heavy Equipment Supervisor.
    • Machine Main System knowledge.

    • Reads, analyzes and interprets complex documents. (Electric schematics, drawings)
    • Responds effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
    • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.
    • Organizes and manages time, duties and activities efficiently.
    • Ability to enter data and understand various computer programs.
    • Ability to analyze data for evaluation of equipment efficiency.
    • Able to communicate in English

    • Problem solving – Strong analytical & problem-solving skills & ability to handle a range of management, coordination & technical issues. 
    • Technical decisions related to equipment performance & condition evaluation.
    • Propose section needs from tools/equipment, supplies or necessary projects.
    • Administrative decisions related to labor and work area management
