This is an on-site, full-time role based in Ilorin for a Value Chain Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and managing the end-to-end value chain processes to optimize operational efficiencies and ensure sustainability.
Principal Accountabilities
Designing, developing, supporting, and driving practical innovations and farmers’ programs to promote regenerative agriculture, improve soil health, improve irrigation practices, improve residue management, reduce post-harvest losses, and conserve biodiversity around the farm.
Develop training materials and build internal capacity around the technical implementation of regenerative agriculture principles, and to effectively transfer knowledge and technology to smallholder farmer supply chains in soy and maize supply chains
Work as a core team member for on-farm regenerative agriculture projects that will be aimed at improving the per-hectare yield of soybean and maize in the country, delivering socio-economic impacts and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Onboarding of farmers, including geo-location mapping and reporting back on the sustainability metrics is essential for the person in this role
Qualifications
A personal passion for sustainable agriculture and food systems, particularly deep prior experience in soy and maize value chains
8-10+ years in relevant roles, including significant experience working within large organisations, with demonstrable experience in driving the adoption of sustainable agriculture and positive environmental impacts in relevant projects and programs.
Educational Qualification (Masters or PhD in Agriculture) /equivalent technical of relevant agriculture
Outstanding program management and organisational skills, including high team management and a focus on delivering and implementing projects on the ground to scale the impact.
Self-reliance, motivation and willingness to travel and work in remote locations and sometimes challenging circumstances within the country
Experience in managing complex projects within a large organisation and in partnership with multiple stakeholders.
Experience with donors, implementing agencies and partners is desirable
Experience on geo-spatial analysis tools is desirable
