    Utility Commercial Manager

    About the job

    • A4&T Power Solutions is looking for a well-rounded and driven Utility Commercial Manager who is responsible for managing and optimizing the commercial performance of the company’s utility-scale renewable energy assets. The role focuses on revenue assurance, contract management, pricing, and commercial strategy across power generation projects, including PPAs, energy sales, grid interactions, and stakeholder negotiations. The ideal candidate must have proven working experience in a renewable energy company, with strong commercial and financial acumen.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead commercial management of utility-scale renewable energy projects across their lifecycle.
    • Manage and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), energy sales contracts, and grid connection agreements.
    • Monitor revenue performance, billing accuracy, and collections from utility and off-taker contracts.
    • Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximize project revenues and profitability.
    • Work closely with finance teams on forecasting, budgeting, and revenue reporting.
    • Liaise with regulators, utilities, and market operators to ensure compliance with market rules and tariffs.
    • Analyze market trends, tariff structures, and regulatory changes impacting utility-scale projects.
    • Support project development teams with commercial inputs for new renewable energy projects.
    • Manage contract risks, variations, and claims in collaboration with legal and project teams.
    • Prepare commercial reports, dashboards, and performance updates for senior management.
    • Support refinancing, restructuring, or expansion initiatives from a commercial perspective.

    Educational Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
    • A Master’s degree or professional certification (MBA, CFA, PMP) is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in a commercial role within a renewable energy company.
    • Proven experience managing utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, or hybrid).
    • Strong understanding of electricity markets, tariffs, PPAs, and regulatory frameworks.
    • Experience working with utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), or energy off-takers.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong commercial and financial analysis skills.
    • Contract negotiation and management expertise.
    • In-depth understanding of renewable energy business models and utility operations.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, legal, and finance teams.
    • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.

    • PPA and contract compliance rate.
    • Billing accuracy and collection efficiency.
    • Commercial risk mitigation and claims resolution.
    • Timely execution of commercial deliverables.
