University Librarian at The Precious Cornerstone University (PCU)

Job Summary

• The position of the University Librarian will soon become vacant. Therefore, the University is seeking to engage an eminently qualified individual to fill the position.
• The University Librarian, who shall be the academic and administrative head of the Library, shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration and development of the University Library.
• He shall coordinate the Library services in the University, its campuses, Colleges, Faculties, Departments, and other teaching or research Units.
• The University Librarian, an Academic Staff, shall be a Principal Officer, who will be required to provide both academic and administrative leadership to staff members in the University Library.

Requirements

• Candidates must possess a good Honours Degree from a recognized University and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent;
• Must have, at least, a minimum of fifteen (15) years' cognate post-graduation experience
• Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage;
• Must fully understand the complexity of the University System and must be able to effectively utilize its human resources to develop a Library System that will fully support the aspirations of the University to attain world-class status: in University Administration or a similar institution;
• Must be registered with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria;
• Must be ICT-compliant and able to move the University towards Virtual Library Applications and Platforms;
• Must not be above 60 years of age as of the time of assumption of duty; 
• Must enjoy good health, and be mentally and emotionally stable.

General Terms and Conditions of Service

• The University Librarian shall hold office for a term of five years in the first instance and for another term of five years, subject to satisfactory performance evaluation by the Governing Council and Senate.

Remuneration

• The remuneration of the University Librarian is competitive, in line with the University's benefits and allowances, as may be approved by the Governing Council.
• Fringe benefits include furnished accommodation, an official vehicle with a driver, and other benefits as approved by the Governing Council.
