    Technical Learning & Development Manager

    Preamble

    • The Technical Learning & Development Manager heads The Bulb Institute (the training arm of The Bulb Africa) and plays a crucial role in designing and driving high-quality learning engagements.
    • Broadly, this individual is tasked with maintaining the quality of the curriculum, the quality of delivery, and the quality of outcomes across all training programs.

    Role & Responsibilities

    • The Technical Learning and Development Manager is a pivotal role at The Bulb Africa, responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and delivery of high-quality technical learning programs.
    • This role combines the expertise of an accomplished Learning & Development (L&D) professional with the technical knowledge of a full-stack software engineer.

    The main responsibilities for this role are as follows:

    Technical Learning Program Design and Management:

    • Define the structure, outcomes, target audience, eligibility criteria, resource needs, and execution strategy for new technical learning programs.
    • Revamp existing programs as necessary to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to design a comprehensive curriculum that covers relevant technical skills and industry practices.
    • Engage qualified facilitators and training assistants with expertise in various technical domains. • Provide support and guidance to facilitators to ensure effective delivery of technical training.
    • Monitor the learning experience through surveys, assessments, and interactions with learners. • Analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Regularly communicate with stakeholders to address their technical learning needs.
    • Manage the training calendar/schedule for multiple concurrent technical programs.

    Competencies 

    • Technical Skills (Mandatory):
    • Minimum 4 years of hands-on software engineering experience, preferably full-stack and in an agile environment.
    • Proficiency in computer science fundamentals, programming paradigms, languages, frameworks, and tools.
    • Strong knowledge of databases, data storage, caching, messaging, testing, security, architecture, and DevOps.
    • Familiarity with web servers, cloud computing, CI/CD, containerization, networking, project management, and version control. 2. Learning and Development (L&D)

    Skills:

    • Accomplished Trainer, Facilitator, or L&D professional with expertise in designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs.
    • Ability to create engaging and effective learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles and skill levels.
    • Strong instructional design skills to develop curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments.
    • Understanding of learning frame works and models, ADDIE , SAM.
