A Technical Adviser to the Group Managing Director (GMD) provides technical guidance and support to the GMD on all technical matters related to the organization's operations.
The Technical Adviser will work closely with the GMD, executive team, and other stakeholders to ensure that the organization's technical strategy aligns with the overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide input to technical studies/research projects, technical reports, project planning reports, etc. to be presented to the GMD.
Ensure that the organization's technical strategy aligns with the overall business strategy.
Aid in the development, coordination, and implementation of strategic plans for the Group and its subsidiaries.
Advise the GMD and executive team on all technical matters related to the organization's operations.
Provide technical guidance on the design, development, and implementation of new products, services, and systems.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and advise the GMD and executive team on potential implications for the organization.
Review and evaluate technical proposals and make recommendations to the GMD and executive team.
Evaluate, review, and interpret technical inquiries on contractors/vendors, and be able to provide recommendations to the GMD on both existing and potential contractors/vendors.
Work collaboratively with other subsidiaries, and departments, such as Marketing & Comms., R&D, engineering, and IT, to ensure that technical solutions are feasible and aligned with business objectives.
Track projects and the decision-making process for projects that require board and top-level committee approvals (e.g., board committees) and ensure that the relevant information for the committee to make an informed decision is readily available.
Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to ensure that technical considerations are taken into account.
Represent the organization at technical conferences, seminars, and other industry events.
Provide technical support to other members of the management team.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as engineering or computer science.
A Master's degree is a plus.
At least 10 years of experience in a technical leadership role, preferably in a similar industry.
Strong technical knowledge and experience in areas such as product design, development, and implementation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide sound technical advice to senior executives.
