The Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure.
This includes managing servers, computer systems, networks, software applications, user accounts, and hardware to ensure optimal performance, security, and business continuity.
The role also provides technical support to users and implements preventive maintenance to minimize system downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and business applications.
Administer and maintain Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, email systems, and user accounts.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
Provide technical support to employees and resolve IT-related incidents promptly.
Manage system backups, disaster recovery processes, and data restoration when required.
Install software updates, patches, and security fixes to ensure system integrity.
Configure and maintain printers, scanners, network devices, and other IT peripherals.
Monitor antivirus, firewall, and endpoint security solutions.
Maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.
Ensure IT assets are properly documented, tracked, and maintained.
Manage user access rights and enforce IT security policies.
Coordinate with external vendors for hardware repairs, software licensing, and technical support.
Maintain documentation for IT systems, procedures, and configurations.
Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and security.
Support IT projects, system upgrades, and technology deployments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certifications are an added advantage.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure support.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, and switching).
Proficiency in troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and endpoint protection.
Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work under minimal supervision.
