    Senior Reservoir Engineer

    Job Summary

    • To provide reservoir engineering expertise across the asset lifecycle, integrating subsurface and surface data to support reservoir analysis, optimize production, and maximize hydrocarbon recovery. 
    • The role contributes to field development planning, reservoir characterization, reserves estimation, and technical assurance to drive efficient operations and sustainable value creation.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualification:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Petroleum, Chemical or a related discipline.
    • Any Additional Qualifications / Certifications or Experience (Desirable but not essential):
      • Advanced Degree (e.g., PhD, Master’s Degree is in Petroleum engineering or related engineering).
      • Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
      • Corporate Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE)
      • Certifications in Project Management (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2, etc).
    • Minimum Years of Experience and Relevant Areas:
    • At least 8-12 years of relevant engineering experience in Oil & Gas Upstream Operating or Servicing Company.

    Proven Experience in:

    • Exploration & Production (E&P) – including Data Room participation, application of standard workflows, and best practices for subsurface studies and reservoir asset development
    • Field Development Planning (FDPs) - including well placement, depletion strategy design, and economic evaluation (NPV/IRR delivery)
    • Integrated Asset Teams - data integration and interpretation (well tests, PVT, logs, production, core data) to support robust reservoir models, field surveillance and management by collaborating with geoscience, drilling, and production functions to deliver aligned field development outcomes.
    • Identifying & Managing Reservoir Uncertainties - delivering risk-based development strategies and probabilistic forecasts (P10 – P90)
    • Mature Field Management and Brownfield Optimization - including decline management and recovery factor improvement
    • Compliance & Standards – application of international and national regulations, including Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS) guidelines, Nigeria National Standards for Reserves Reporting (NNS), Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), ISO, Total Quality Management (TQM) standards.

    Technical Competencies:

    Subsurface Evaluations and Multidisciplinary Integration:

    • Applies mastery of petroleum engineering principles and standards in reservoir modeling, fluid mechanics, well interventions, drilling & completion operations, field/well surveillance, reserves estimation and production optimization by reviewing and guiding subsurface works and integrating large datasets across different functions, so that technical solutions are sound, safe, and fit-for-purpose.

    Quality Assurance & Control:

    • Applies robust QA / QC processes to reservoir engineering works, so that designs and outputs meet integrity, constructability, and reliability standards.

    Project and Operational Management:

    • Applies structured planning and monitoring tools for projects, risk assessment, budgeting, quick problem-solving so that projects are executed on time, within budget, and to required quality.

    Risk Management & Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

    • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates engineering and operational risks through proactive HSE practices, so that incidents are minimized and compliance with regulatory laws and standards is assured.

    Contract & Vendor Management:

    • Provides technical input into procurement, vendor evaluation, and contract oversight, so that supply chain performance aligns with project requirements and delivers long-term value.

    Data-Driven Tools and Software Proficiency:

    • Utilizes digital platforms, industry standard software such as tNavigator, Petrel, Petrel RE, ECLIPSE, IPM, Saphir, OFM, etc for production modelling, reservoir modelling & simulation studies, and production data analysis to test development concepts and optimize oil and gas recovery schemes, so that efficiency improves, errors reduce, and data-driven decisions are enabled.
