About the Role

• The Senior Product Manager (Software Operations & Ecosystem Strategy) is responsible for the full product lifecycle across Ashipa Electric's software platform portfolio, including our Energy Management, metering, and token vending platform, EV Charging, and Load Audit tools.
• This role acts as a force multiplier for the head of the software department, bridging technical complexity and business strategy across an interconnected ecosystem of energy software products. The successful candidate will own the product roadmap, drive 0-to-1 launches, manage post-launch stability, and serve as the primary interface between Engineering, Sales, external partners, and regulators.
• We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who can hold both the strategic and operational dimensions of product simultaneously, someone as comfortable defining a 36-month unified roadmap as they are triaging a live operational issue at 9pm.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Roadmap Leadership

• Define and communicate a 12-to-36-month unified product roadmap across our Energy Management software, EV Charging, Metering, and Load Audit platforms.
• Ensure roadmap alignment with business objectives, fundraising timelines, and commercial commitments.
• Prioritise features and initiatives based on market demand, regulatory requirements, and revenue impact.

End-to-End Product Delivery

• Own the product lifecycle from ideation through design, build, testing, and launch.
• Manage cross-functional dependencies across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
• Maintain project timelines, resource plans, and risk registers across concurrent workstreams.

Software Operations & Operational Excellence

• Oversee post-launch platform stability and uptime across all live products.
• Triage user issues, manage escalations, and close feedback loops with Engineering.
• Define and maintain operational health metrics and support continuous improvement processes.

Market & Regulatory Intelligence

• Monitor regulatory developments relevant to our Energy Management software and the broader energy software ecosystem — including OCPP, OCPI, NERC/utility tariff frameworks, and STS standards.
• Identify market opportunities and competitive threats; translate intelligence into product strategy.
• Maintain awareness of comparable platforms and competitor product developments across Africa.

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management

• Serve as the primary interface for external partners: utilities, regulators, enterprise clients, and OEM partners.
• Present product strategy and technical direction to Management and investors with clarity.
• Support business development and sales through product positioning, demo readiness, and RFP inputs.

 Data-Driven Performance

• Define product KPIs across adoption, retention, operational uptime, and customer satisfaction.
• Build and maintain dashboards and reporting frameworks; use data to drive prioritisation decisions.
• Lead post-launch reviews and close improvement loops with Engineering and Operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• 6+ years of experience in Product Management, with a track record of managing technical software products integrated with hardware or complex data systems.
• Proven ability to manage complex project timelines, mitigate risks, and lead resource planning across concurrent workstreams.
• Ability to partner with Engineering on API design and data flow architecture while simultaneously calculating ROI and building business cases.
• Mastery of stakeholder communication, with the ability to present technical strategies to Management.
• Proven track record of operating with significant independence in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

Advantageous

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• MBA or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in EV Infrastructure, Metering, Distributed Energy Resource Management (DERMS), or related energy software domains.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification (Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent).
• Prior experience with STS-certified metering platforms, vending systems, or utility-grade energy software.
• Familiarity with OEM-agnostic platforms and multi-tenant energy management systems.
