Senior Product Designer at Miva Open University

OVERALL FUNCTION

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Designer to lead the design of intuitive, engaging, and customer-centric digital experiences across our platforms.
• The ideal candidate will combine strong user experience strategy with exceptional interface design skills to deliver seamless digital journeys that drive adoption, satisfaction, and business growth.
• This role requires deep expertise in user research, interaction design, visual design, and design systems, as well as strong cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, marketing, and business teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead end-to-end product design from discovery to delivery, translating business goals and user needs into intuitive, high-impact experiences.
• Drive user research and usability testing, synthesising insights into clear design decisions that improve engagement, conversion, and retention.
• Design high-fidelity interfaces, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for web and mobile products.
• Define interaction patterns, navigation flows, and micro-interactions that deliver cohesive and scalable user experiences.
• Build, maintain, and evolve design systems to ensure consistency, efficiency, and brand alignment across products.
• Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design solutions with product vision and technical constraints.
• Present design rationale, trade-offs, and outcomes to senior stakeholders and executives with clarity and confidence.
• Champion accessibility, inclusive design, and UX best practices across the product lifecycle.
• Mentor junior designers through design critiques, feedback, and knowledge-sharing to raise overall design quality.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5–8+ years of product, UI, or UX design experience (preferably in EdTech, fintech, banking, SaaS, or digital platforms).
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design ownership and leadership across web and mobile projects.
• Expertise in mobile-first and responsive design principles.

CORE SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools including Figma (primary) and FigJam, with experience using tools such as Overflow and Framer as an advantage.
• Strong capability in user research, usability testing, information architecture, wireframing, and interactive prototyping.
• Deep understanding of interaction design principles and the development and maintenance of scalable design systems.
• Solid UI expertise covering visual design, layout, typography, colour systems, iconography, micro-interactions, and motion.
• Experience collaborating closely with engineers, including effective developer handoff and design specification documentation.
• Ability to leverage product analytics and behavioural insights using tools such as Hotjar,
• Google Analytics, and Mixpanel to inform and validate design decisions.
