The Senior Laboratory Engineer supervises and conducts testing of crude oil and related products, with a focus on PMS production. The role ensures compliance with company, national, and international standards, delivering accurate and timely analyses to support refinery efficiency and product quality.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Analyze crude oil characteristics (sulfur content, API gravity, pour point, distillation range) for suitability in PMS production.
Monitor key PMS quality parameters including RVP, RON, MON, benzene content, sulfur, and olefins.
Provide laboratory data to optimize operations of the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and catalytic reforming unit.
Assist in defining and refining naphtha cuts to ensure appropriate feedstock for PMS blending.
Strictly enforce environmental, safety, and hazardous material handling protocols.
Lead internal laboratory audits and contribute to root cause analysis of product non-conformities or operational issues.
Requirements:
Minimum of B.Sc. Chemistry, B. Eng. in Chemical/Processing Engineer, B.Sc. Science Lab Tech
Minimum 7 years’ experience in an area of specialization.
Experience in the use of laboratory equipment, apparatus, Health, and safety management. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient in the use of complex laboratory equipment including RON & MON engines for octane analysis.
Skilled in operating TBP (True Boiling Point) fractionating columns for crude oil distillation profiling.
Hands-on experience with various Gas Chromatographs (GCs) for hydrocarbon analysis.
Experienced in using Refinery Gas Analyzers for compositional and impurity analysis of refinery gas streams.
