Senior Java Software Engineer at Conclase Consulting

Role Description

• The Senior Java Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications and services within Conclase’s product and client environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, efficient code, implementing and optimizing microservices, integrating with APIs and third-party systems, and ensuring application scalability, reliability, and security. The role involves collaborating closely with product managers, business analysts, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions, performing code reviews, mentoring junior developers, and contributing to architectural decisions. The Senior Java Software Engineer will also troubleshoot production issues, improve existing systems, and follow best practices in software development and DevOps. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java and core programming concepts, with experience building complex backend systems.
• Hands-on experience in software development using modern practices, including version control, testing, and continuous integration.
• Expertise in the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security) for building enterprise-grade applications.
• Practical experience designing and implementing microservices architectures, including service communication, resilience, and observability.
• Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly beneficial.
• Ability to mentor and guide engineering teams, collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in an on-site, agile development environment and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory teamwork.
