Senior Field Service Engineer at Phase3 Telecom

Role summary

• The Senior FSE is to supervise the maintenance, service repairs and installation of engineering equipment products.

 Required Knowledge & Skills:

•  Strong hands-on experience in optical fiber deployment/installation (aerial & terrestrial). 
• Ability to use fiber Optics Tools: OTDR, Splicing machine, LSPM, VFL, Fiber scope etc. 
• Efficient in the use of KMZ. 
• Strong Customer Relationship Management Skills. 
• Ability to lead a team 
• Dynamic and Creative; Ability to assimilate quickly and act decisively.
• Good knowledge of network performance/configuration parameters and their interpretation and use.
• Good knowledge of network operation processes and interfaces 
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
• Result oriented, good under pressure and meets deadlines 
• People oriented; able to lead and motivate his team 
• Open minded approach to solving problems and dealing with new challenges

Key Responsibilities

• Providing advanced technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the teams. 
• Resolving complex issues, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions.
• Leading or participating in escalated support cases and ensuring timely resolution. 
• Developing and delivering technical training and knowledge sharing sessions. 
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g projects, BBS, Metro, Commercial, engineering) to improve network performance and customer satisfaction. 
• Analyzing network issues and contributing to network improvement initiatives.
• Mentoring and coaching younger engineers and providing guidance on best practices.
• Conducting site visits and assessments. 
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues. 
• Configuring and optimizing systems. 
• Developing and implementing maintenance and repair strategies. 
• Providing technical documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

•  B.Eng/HND in Electrical Engineering /Telecommunication/Computer science /Computer Engineering or equivalent. Candidates with M.Eng will be an added advantage. 

Experience: 

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in O & M, Implementation and deployment of Optical Fiber/Integration of any optical transmission equipment. 
• Experience with managing diversity, team of 15 and above, and a cross-cultural experience in work environment. 
• Usage of trouble ticket tools and Remedy for change control management and overall network fault management. 
• Good knowledge of Access/Core/Transport networks.
