    Security Supervisor

    Job Summary

    • Provide vigilant, accurate, and disciplined CCTV monitoring of both BINL onshore facilities and company vessels alongside, at anchorage, underway, or deployed offshore, wherever authorized camera coverage is available.
    • Recognize unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and potential security risks or breaches, and promptly alert the people able to intervene.
    • Support the Deputy Security Manager’s investigations by locating, preserving, reviewing and securely handing over relevant CCTV footage and associated records.
    • Produce objective observations and reliable event timelines, maintaining the integrity, confidentiality and traceability of the evidence.
    • Report to the Deputy Security Manager and coordinate assigned monitoring personnel and shift activities. Apply approved security, safety, CCTV and information-handling procedures; distinguish live surveillance from delayed or recorded footage and report limitations in coverage.

    Job Details

    • Start-of-shift readiness and coverage: Receive the handover and confirm the current camera register, vessel/site identities, priority activities, open incidents and contacts.
    • Check authorised login, display, recording status where visible, picture clarity, camera labels, timestamps, communications and known blind spots.
    • Record unavailable feeds and confirm agreed alternative arrangements.
    • Expected outcome: A documented readiness check every shift; coverage gaps and outstanding risks are understood before taking over.
    • Disciplined live monitoring: Follow the approved risk-based scan sequence and monitoring intervals for both facilities and available vessel feeds.
    • Give priority to access points, quaysides, transfers, fuel movements and other higher-risk activities.
    • Use approved layouts, playback, and pan/tilt/zoom controls without losing priority coverage.
    • Coordinate relief before leaving the monitoring position or undertaking an extended footage search.
    • Expected outcome: Scheduled monitoring is maintained; workload or staffing limitations are reported and covered through agreed arrangements.
    • Onshore security and safety observations: Identify suspicious access, tailgating, perimeter interference, unauthorised vehicles, unusual movements of stores/fuel, camera obstruction and aggression.
    • Recognise visible hazards such as vehicle–pedestrian conflict, blocked emergency routes, unsafe lifting, fire/smoke, spills, unsafe work at height and missing task-specific PPE.
    • Compare observed activity with known authorisations through the responsible contact.
    • Expected outcome: Specific, location-based observations are escalated; appearance or assumptions alone are not treated as proof of misconduct.
    • Vessel and offshore observations: Recognise suspicious approaches, unauthorised boarding, unusual access and interference with vessel equipment or cameras.
    • Identify visible risks during embarkation, gangway use, personnel transfers, bunkering, lifting and mooring, including people near tensioned lines, exposed deck edges or suspended loads.
    • Report suspected distress, fire, man overboard, or unsafe deck activity immediately to the Master/bridge.
    • Expected outcome: Warnings identify the vessel, camera/location, observed hazard and event time, supporting prompt onboard assessment.
    • Stream delay, outage and image limitations: Distinguish live, delayed, frozen, replayed and disconnected feeds.
    • Consider low light, glare, weather, occlusion, vessel motion and network delay when interpreting images. Verify suspected freezing using permitted checks; record last reliable image time.
    • For lost offshore links, notify the responsible contact and seek confirmation of local recording or alternative checks through the approved route.
    • Expected outcome: Unavailable images are never reported as confirmed safe conditions; limitations and substitute checks are recorded.
    • Alarm response and follow-through: Assess camera/analytics alarms using available views without delaying urgent notification.
    • Give a concise factual warning, seek acknowledgement, and track the response. Continue relevant observation where possible, update responders and preserve the event.
    • If the feed is delayed or recorded, state this clearly and ask the site/vessel to confirm the present condition.
    • Expected outcome: Life-safety warnings take priority over administrative logging or exporting; unresolved urgent alerts are escalated

    Requirements

    • Higher Diploma / Degree in a relevant discipline; a recognized vocational Diploma or higher qualification in Security Management, Information Technology, Electronics, Maritime Operations or a related discipline.
    • A Bachelor's degree would be preferred in a relevant field of learning.
    • At least five years of relevant security, surveillance or control-room experience, including at least two years of hands-on CCTV monitoring and footage retrieval, and one year coordinating shifts, handovers or assigned personnel. Periods may overlap.
    • Documented CCTV/control-room operator training or an assessed equivalent covering systematic observation, alarm handling, video search, export and incident reporting.
    • Demonstrated capacity for sustained visual observation, accurate record-keeping, and clear communication during the assigned shift, assessed for the actual work with appropriate corrective aids or reasonable adjustments.
