Safety Officer at Kuhl-Cher Limited

   JOB SUMMARY

A reputable organization in the Oil & Gas sector requires suitable candidates for this position. The safety officer will work with senior colleagues in Health & Safety, to oversee the safety of employees and company property, and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines. 

• Minimum Qualification: Ordinary National Diploma (OND)/Health & Safety Certifications
• Experience Level: Entry level
• Experience Length: 1-2 years

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the safety team to assess risks and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations
• Inspecting production equipment and processes to make sure they are safe.
• Reporting unsafe and/or damaged equipment, and risky employee behaviour.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team, to ensure proper maintenance of equipment and machinery.
• Participating in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques
• Work with senior colleagues to create safety plans, which include suggested improvements to existing infrastructure and business processes.
• Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with project leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the production team and the entire company.
• Investigating causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions on the job site
• Reviewing and reporting on staff compliance with health and safety rules.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess Minimum of OND, Certification in HSE level 1& 2
• Minimum one- year relevant working experience.
• Sound knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
• Skilled in investigating incidents, potential hazards, and writing reports.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to support the review of existing policies, processes, and make recommendations for improvements.
• Ability to carry out research and interpret relevant data.
• Ability to put together presentations, and train colleagues on HSE related issues.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
