Job description

• Monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations.
• You are to develop measures for the safety of personnel all time (Off site and onsite).
• You are to correct any unsafe acts or conditions by following the right channel line of authority (e.g when a worker is not wearing proper PPE on site).
• You are to exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
• It is your duty to maintain awareness of active and developing situations (in & outside the office).
• Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work-plan.
• Investigate accidents that have occurred within incident areas and near misses.
• Ensure preparation and implementation of Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP).
• Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment before job commences.
• Conducts toolbox meetings before any job commences on site.
• As a Safety officer you are to review and approve all subcontractors’ safety plans.
• Organise training and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
• Conducts job hazard analysis.
• Work with the HR to establishes safety standards and policies as needed.
• Watches out for the safety of all workers and works to protect them from entering hazardous situations. Responds to employees’ safety concerns.
• Support the development of OHS policies and programs.
• Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
