SaaS Product Manager at Prestigious Consulting Group

About the Role

• We are seeking a delivery-focused SaaS Product Manager to oversee the continued development, completion, and launch of a digital platform connecting African researchers, innovators, and businesses to mentorship, funding, and commercialisation opportunities.
• Product development is already underway, with some features completed and an existing team of developers and designers in place.
• The successful candidate will take ownership of the product's current state, assess outstanding requirements, establish clear delivery priorities, and coordinate the team towards a successful MVP launch.
• This role is best suited to a Product Manager who has hands-on experience managing software development, coordinating cross-functional teams, and driving digital products from development through testing and release.

Key Responsibilities
Product Assessment and Planning:

• Review existing product documentation, roadmap, completed features, and outstanding development tasks.
• Assess the current state of the product and identify gaps, dependencies, and potential delivery risks.
• Establish a prioritised roadmap for completing and launching the MVP.

Product Development and Delivery:

• Coordinate developers, designers, and other relevant stakeholders to deliver agreed product milestones.
• Translate business requirements into clear product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Manage the product backlog, sprint planning, reviews, and delivery tracking.
• Resolve blockers, manage dependencies, and ensure the team remains focused on launch-critical features.

MVP Testing and Launch:

• Coordinate functional testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Work with developers to track defects, validate fixes, and ensure features meet agreed requirements.
• Assess product readiness against agreed launch criteria.
• Coordinate release planning, deployment activities, and post-launch improvements with the technical team.

Stakeholder Management and Reporting:

• Provide regular updates on completed work, outstanding tasks, delivery timelines, and risks.
• Maintain accurate product documentation, roadmaps, sprint reports, and decision logs.
• Communicate product-related decisions and escalate issues requiring management input.

User Experience and Product Improvement:

• Collaborate with designers to ensure product features meet user needs and provide a coherent user experience.
• Gather and incorporate relevant user feedback into product decisions.
• Recommend improvements based on usability, business priorities, and product performance.

Business Alignment and Fundraising Support:

• Ensure product priorities align with the platform's business objectives and intended users.
• Provide product roadmaps, delivery updates, and relevant product information to support stakeholder presentations and fundraising activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant Product Management experience, with demonstrated ownership of digital product delivery.
• Proven experience working with software developers and designers to deliver digital products or SaaS solutions.
• Demonstrable experience managing an MVP or significant product release from development through testing and deployment.
• Strong practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum, backlog prioritisation, sprint management, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience coordinating product testing, defect tracking, and release readiness.
• Proficiency with product management tools such as Jira, Linear, Trello, Asana, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive delivery in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience taking over a product developed by a previous Product Manager or team.
• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced technology environment.
• Familiarity with UI/UX design processes, software development workflows, and product analytics.
• Experience with research, innovation, funding, mentorship, or commercialisation platforms.
