Malaria Consortium requires qualified research personnel with expertise in mixed method approach to research that will carry out a feasibility assessment, evaluating the feasibility of implementing SMC as documented in the National SMC implementation guide in FCT Abuja.
Purpose/Scope of Assignment:
Malaria Consortium is taking strategic steps to identify means and ways of implementing a successful SMC in the urban parts of the FCT Abuja; and this would require more in-depth knowledge about the peculiarities, opportunities and challenges of implementing in urban areas. This consultancy will focus on conducting an initial feasibility study that will assess:
Feasibility of Malaria Consortium rolling out a successful SMC campaign between the months of June – October 2022.
Findings will be used to inform decision making regarding the selection of the best approaches/channels to implement SMC in the FCT Abuja in 2022; and then, guide future implementations between 2023 and 2024.
This assessment will be undertaken in selected areas Councils of the FCT Abuja, with MDAs and i/NGOs working within the Public Health subsector. The consultancy must be completed within March 2022 to inform on the implementation plan for the delivery of the 2022 SMC in which SPAQ administration is slated for five (5) cycles, June – October 2022.
The assessment will occur in three stages:
Stage 1 - Desk review of previous health and mass campaigns within the urban parts of the FCT Abuja and other urban settings within and outside Nigeria;
Stage 2 - Results of the desk review will inform the protocol development and selection of three urban areas for feasibility assessment data collection; and
Stage 3 - Based on overall findings, a recommendation will be put forward for the best approach for rolling out the 2022 SMC in the urban parts of the FCT Abuja.

A data analyst would be engaged to analyze the data to be collected by data collectors from the three (3) study areas. Computer assisted personal interview (CAPI) approaches would be used and data uploaded on SurveyCTO. The results of the analysis would be submitted to the Consultant for use.
