    Research Analyst

    Responsibility Summary

    • As a Research Analyst, you will be responsible for driving the Group’s research and economic analysis activities, conducting sector and country studies as well as preparing the Group’s research reports for internal and external stakeholders including clients.

    Research:

    • Become the sell side research leader for equity and fixed income reports. Supervise the building of financial models to support analysis and investment recommendations for equity and debt instruments with exposure to Pan African Market.
    • Lead the production of regular reports which monitor developments in the Group’s key markets and products, risk-based sector and country reports and providing timely analyses on their likely impact on the Nigerian/ African economy and the Group’s operations.
    • Macroeconomic Analysis: Undertake analysis, and interpretation into the impact of various key environmental drivers such as market / industry trends, geographic trends, socio-political factors etc. on target markets, industries, and companies, with the aim of better tailoring recommendations and predictions for decision-making of target audiences.
    • Cutting edge research: Lead the conduct of cutting research in economics, ranging from theoretical methodological issues to applied economics touching on financial issues covering various sectors.

    Financial Modelling and Strategy:

    • Develop fixed income and equities matrix, input data into proprietary financial models, to represent both real-world financial situations, and scenarios to form basis for research notes, and advice to guide the effective decision-making of both internal teams, and external clientele.
    • Responsible for producing Macroeconomic and Cross Product Strategy research for internal and external use (i.e., Bonds/Equities/FX/Property)
    • New Product Development: In conjunction with the Strategy department and business units, pro-actively design and develop new products and schemes aimed at enhancing the company’s strategic and business activities
    • Support Business Development Activities: Actively contribute to research materials for purposes of making sales pitches to both existing and prospective clients, as well as internal teams.
    • Portfolio Monitoring: Perform active surveillance, and extensive analysis of investment portfolios to identify trends, and make recommendations to both internal teams, and the company’s clientele with the aim of driving their effective decision-making in optimizing the performance of said portfolios.
    • Make regular presentations to internal and external clients – research outlook, roadshow presentations etc.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
    • 3-5 years experience in a similar position preferably within the financial services/investment industry
    • Prior experience managing equity, macroeconomic and fixed income research
    • Good knowledge of the capital market space
