    The Registry

    • The Registry is the administrative hub of the University.
    • The Office of the Registrar is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for day-to-day administrative work of the University.
    • It serves as the veins and arteries that supply essential nutrients for the functioning of the various organs of the University system.
    • The Registry thus provides services that enable the University achieve its goals in teaching, learning, research and community service.

    The Person

    • The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the University.
    • Candidates for the post shall be visionary, have the ability to provide good leadership and command respect and loyalty of staff of the Registry.
    • Candidate must also possess personal integrity and demonstrate transparency in private and public life.


    • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and Secretary to the Council, the Senate, Congregation and Convocation.
    • He/she also serves as a Member/Secretary to Committees of Management and is responsible to the Vice Chancellor.
      • For the day-to-day administrative work of the University except as regards matters for which the Bursar is responsible.
      • University external communications, advertisement, announcement and general correspondence;
      • Harmonization of the work of the School Officers in the various Schools within the context of the University, although the School Officers are responsible to their respective Deans for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the Schools; and
      • Determination of all personnel matters including the interpretation of all staff entitlements under the staff regulations.
    • He/She must be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications to e-administration as applicable to the running of a complex and modern University system.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • The person for the post of Registrar is required to possess a good First Degree not below second class lower division from a recognized University with 18 years post cognate qualification experience, most of which must be in the Administrative cadre of a University.
    • Candidate for this position must have served at least as a Deputy Registrar in University administration for at least 5 years.
    • Membership of a recognized professional body i.e. ANUPA, NIM, IPMAN, AUA, etc. and proficiency in computer applications are required.
    • Possession of higher degree certificate(s) will be an added advantage.

    Conditions of Service

    • The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years and may be extended for a further period of one year only, provided he or she has not attained retirement age as at the date the six years would lapse, after which the Registrar shall relinquish the post and be assigned to other duties in the University if an internal candidate.
    • The appointment is further governed by the Federal Government Establishment circulars as may be adopted by the Governing Council from time to time.

    The successful candidate will be entitled to the salary and other conditions of service as are applicable to the Registrar in any Federal University in Nigeria.
