    Purchasing Officer

    Job Summary

    Our client, a New Departmental Store with Retail, Pharmacy, Bakery and Butchery sections in Abuja requires for immediate employment the service of a Purchaser. The Purchasing Officer will buy products that are essential for the company’s day-to-day operations. He/She will review prices and quality and ensure optimal stock levels. Ultimately, the purchaser will create and maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time. 

    Responsibilities

    Ø  Purchase items from vendors and suppliers, filling out all necessary purchase orders. 

    Ø  Track orders and ensures timely delivery

    Ø  Negotiate contracts terms of agreement and pricing.

    Ø  Must update Expense Sheet regularly 

    Ø  Monthly price comparison to ensure the company gets the best deals. 

    Ø  Shop for the best available deals on needed items by looking up prices from multiple vendors and suppliers to find the highest-quality items for the lowest price.

    Ø  Process purchase orders, updating digital files as needed to record purchases made, when money has been received, and all other relevant information.

    Ø  Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ordering new items as needed to keep the inventory fully stocked and supplied. 

    Ø  Ensure that purchased orders are delivered by coordinating with warehouse and transport staff. 

    Ø  Locate new vendors and establish working relationships with them. They also maintain existing vendor and supplier relationships. 

    Ø  Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses. 

    Qualification

    • B.Sc. in Business Administration or relevant field.
    • Minimum of 5 years work experience as a Purchasing Officer, Purchasing Agent or similar role in a company
    • Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
    • Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
    • Hands-on experience with purchasing software
    • Understanding of supply chain procedures
    • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses
    • Excellent Negotiation skills
