    Protocol Assistant

    Summary:

    The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Protocol Assistant position in the Executive Office. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA). All genders are encouraged to apply.

    Duties

    The incumbent is the chief protocol staff and aids the Principal Officer as a staff assistant.  The job holder maintains relationships with Nigerian government officials, traditional rulers, diplomatic missions, and key members of the private sector.  She also arranges official meetings, events, and other activities for the Principal Officer, visiting U.S. officials (including the Ambassador and DCM), the Political and Economic Section and other senior staff.  This includes liaising with the Abuja FO, the General Services Office, Public Affairs Section, Regional Security Office, FCS, FAS, and the official residence employees to coordinate all logistical support required.  The incumbent also prepares briefing materials and other documents as required.

    Qualifications:

    FOR THE EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, APPLICANTS MUST MEET EITHER OPTION 1 OR OPTION 2 TO QUALIFY.

    Option 1

    • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience dealing with the public in a service-oriented environment is required.
    • Education: A university degree in English, French, International Relations, Business, Communications, or Public Policy is required.
    • Note: NYSC Certificate/Exemption/Exclusion document is required.

    Option 2:

    • Experience: Minimum four (4) years of experience dealing with the public in a service-oriented environment is required
    • Education: Two (2) years of university studies in any field is required.
