Provide direct technical assistance and coordinate program activities including multi-sectorial partnerships and capacity development plans for the Federal Ministry of Health and relevant Departments and Agencies involved in tobacco control in Nigeria.
Provide technical assistance to the government on implementation their tobacco control priorities ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements and the highest professional practice and to the benefit of the government.
Provide technical advice on all issues relating to tobacco control policy implementation and responsible for ensuring that such advice is given in accordance with the best professional standards.
Provide oversight technical support, review of progress reports and support the analysis of programmatic activity outcomes. Support project performance monitoring activities including onsite supportive supervision visits.
Coordinate development of work plans with government Ministry, Department or Agency including related outputs and performance indicators, coordinate the consultants engaged to provide expert support for the implementation of the program strategies tailored to achieving objectives of the project.
Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing focusing on contributions to communities of practice towards a tobacco free Africa. Participate in media activities including press releases, writing and syndication of articles related to tobacco control.
Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and strengthening of tobacco control policy implementation supported by the Fund, and providing data and evidence required for decision making on new and continuous funding to the government.
Contribute to the design, development, update, and use of TOPAFA monitoring tools for tobacco control policy implementation.
Required:
Degree in Public Health, healthcare related sciences or social sciences (an advanced degree is an added advantage).
3-5 years’ experience or master’s degree and 0-2 years’ experience in the development sector or civil society environment implementing tobacco control projects involving government and multiple stakeholders
Cognate knowledge of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Law and the Nigerian Tobacco Control Act and its regulations.
