    Project Manager (Health Journalism)

    Job Summary

    • The Project Manager (Health Journalism) will oversee the design, implementation, and coordination of CJID’s health journalism projects, including investigations, special reports, convenings such as the State of Health Summit, and strategic partnerships.
    • The role requires strong project management skills, an eye for editorial quality, and the ability to liaise with government, civil society, funders, and media partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Project Design & Implementation: Lead the planning and execution of health journalism projects, ensuring deliverables are on time, within budget, and aligned with CJID’s strategy.
    • Investigations Support: Work closely with editors and reporters to identify story leads, provide background research, and track the impact of health-related investigations.
    • Summit & Convenings: Manage the planning and logistics for the State of Health Summit and other health dialogues, including agenda development, speaker outreach, and coordination with partners.
    • Partnerships & Donor Engagement: Act as liaison with the Gates Foundation and other funders; prepare donor reports, proposals, and updates on project progress.
    • Monitoring & Evaluation: Develop M&E framework for health journalism outputs and track impact (policy changes, public debates, commitments secured).
    • Team Coordination: Supervise project officers, interns, and consultants engaged on health journalism initiatives.
    • Visibility & Communications: Support CJID and Premium Times in producing knowledge products, newsletters, and multimedia content that highlight health sector investigations.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Journalism, or related field (Master’s preferred).
    • At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in health, media, or governance sectors.
    • Strong understanding of Nigeria’s health sector landscape and funding environment.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in proposal writing and donor reporting is an advantage.
    • Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
    • Passion for journalism, accountability, and public interest media.
