    Program Officer

    Location: Value Female Network Africa HQ, Behind Federal Ministry of Agriculture, GRA, Osogbo, Osun State Nigeria.

    BASIC FUNCTION

    The Programme Officer will work to (assisted by programme assistants) coordinate all of VFN programmes. Together with the assistant program officers, they will be responsible for planning, implementing, reviewing, and monitoring program implementation across VFN implementing communities and states in Nigeria.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinates all the short-term and long-term projects being carried out by the Organization.
    • Responsible for creation of new innovative projects for Value Female Network.
    • Provides support and supervise the anti-FGM grass root projects and Girls’ Safe Space Projects across Implementing States.
    • Prepares advocacy reports, statements and other relevant materials related to the Organization’s activities in coordination with other members of staff.
    • Train and engage other members of staff in capacity building sessions.
    • Support the fundraising efforts and relationship with potential donors and partners.
    • Establish and maintain regular communication with project partners and other stakeholders.
    • Provides technical support for Board members and provide quarterly and annual report.
    • Support the development of internal programme documents such as Funder reports, Power Points, manuals and other documents.
    • Work with partners to refine proposals, monitoring and evaluation plans, and project budgets.
    • Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of VFN and donor organizations.
    • Analyze programme risk.
    • Analyze, research, and be familiar with all VFN Implementing States political and economic landscape and identify opportunities for VFN programmes.
    • Manage Grants and Contracts

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of HND or BSc in any health or Social science related course with up to 3 - 5 years of experience working in a Health-related NGO. A very good understanding of reproductive health, gender-based violence, harmful practices and gender equality are also needed.
    • Experience conducting human rights advocacy and research and monitoring projects on the Girl Child.
    • Prior work experience in Advocacy projects.
    • Prior experience in grant application and working on donor-funded projects.

    SKILLS

    • Shows great competence in handling Advocacy projects.
    • Ability to write grants applications.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple priorities while working effectively towards deadlines.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Very strong political judgement, ability to identify opportunities and to make assertive and sound decisions consistent with functions.
    • Strong motivation and passion for the girl child
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare compelling presentations and written reports.
    • Ability to work with and mobilize communities for social action.

    DESIRABLE SKILLS

    • Proficiency in Yoruba is desirable however, proficiency in any other Nigeria language will be considered.
    • Knowledge of hard-to-reach rural communities within VFN Implementing States with Emphasis on Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Kwara States. Others includes: Kano and Kaduna, Maiduguri States.

    Safeguarding: The post holder is required to carry out duties in accordance with VFN anti-harassment policy.
    Health and Safety: The role holder is required to carry out duties in accordance with VFN Health and Safety policies and procedures.
