    Program Manager

    The mission of the organisation is to promote and enhance access to justice and address other legal needs of the indigent, disadvantaged and marginalized residents of Nigeria through a public-private collaborative pro bono project. The organization is currently implementing a number of projects aimed at promoting its objectives; to ensure that law and order is upheld, and access to justice is guaranteed to every resident of the country irrespective of means, sex, ethnic group, place of origin, religion or political opinion. The organization is currently seeking to appoint a Program Manager assigned with coordinating, managing and monitoring pro bono programmes.

    The Programme Manager will:

    • Assist the director/coordinator in overseeing project activities and be the main contact point for PILP stakeholders, donors and clearinghouse staff
    • Ensure  qualified/ appropriate   counsel  prosecute  pro bono  matters;
    • Act as intermediary between pro bono clients and organisations needing legal assistance and pro bono lawyers able to assist in their respective areas of operation;
    • Oversee the timely assignment of matters to specific pro bono law offices with support from the Program Assistant;
    • Supervise the duties of the Program Assistant;
    • Monitor, evaluate and assess services rendered by participating counsel to pro bono clients;
    • Ensure that lawyers participating under the PILP scheme comply with all regulations applicable to legal practice in Nigeria;
    • Formulate relevant forms, templates, processes, procedures, manuals, to ensure  accurate feedback  from  the  pro bono  client  and counsel on  progress  of  matters;
    • Conduct quarterly reviews of pro bono case files and conduct post action surveys;
    • Administer the complaint system and mediate where necessary;
    • Ensure that ethical standards are  being  maintained  by  counsel and that those who  truly qualify are in fact the beneficiaries of the scheme;
    • Recommend  to the pro bono Director/Coordinator sanctions for erring  counsel;
    • Attract the best, the brightest and the committed to populate and execute the MEAD aspect of the PILP vision;
    • Pay periodic unannounced visits to courts and clinics in order to monitor and assess counsel and other volunteers;
    • Formulate, revise and update the code of conduct for participating counsel in the PILP scheme;
    • Take up related duties as may be assigned by the director/coordinator
