    Production Geologist & Seismologist

    Job Purpose

    • The Production Geologist will work within a dynamic, high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary team, providing technical leadership and delivery across one of the following areas, depending on either role assignment below:

    Studies:

    • Deliver a step change in reservoir characterisation and modelling across the full Opportunity Realisation Process, from opportunity identification through to Final Investment Decision (FID).
    • The role is accountable for front‑end project delivery and supports the achievement of the company’s growth ambitions.

    Operations:

    • Provide production geology support to deliver top‑quartile well proposals, well execution activities (new wells, workovers, and abandonment), and the systematic capture and documentation of learnings from delivered well projects.
    • The role also provides Production Geology discipline support to Field Management teams within the wider Asset organisation, including WRFM and hydrocarbon resource management activities.

    Responsibilities
    Studies Production Geologist:

    • Analyse and integrate relevant geoscience data(seismic, well logs, bio-strat, cores, SWS etc.) to develop robust static reservoir models.
    • Generate realistic depth maps from production seismology outputs, honouring key geological controls such as fluid contacts, well tops, fills, and seismic amplitudes.
    • Undertake small to medium-scale seismic interpretation projects as required.
    • Deliver compliant static models, including the quantification of static subsurface uncertainties and effective transfer of models to Reservoir Engineers.
    • Collaborate with Well Engineers to plan and optimise well paths while identifying and mitigating potential drilling hazards.
    • Contribute to integrated milestone reviews, presenting technical work for endorsement and ensuring timely approval by relevant Technical Authorities.
    • Provide Production Geology (PG) discipline support within integrated teams, ensuring no project milestone slippage attributable to geoscience inputs.
    • Support the timely delivery of project maturation milestones through compliant and fit‑for‑purpose PG subsurface evaluations.

    For an Operations Production Geologist:

    • Analyse and integrate geoscience data (seismic, well logs, production data, etc.) to support the development of high‑quality well proposals.
    • Work closely with Well Engineers to plan and optimise well trajectories, ensuring well objectives are achieved while mitigating geological and drilling risks.
    • Coordinate the preparation of well proposals and ensure compliance with mandatory PG, DEM1, and DEP standards.
    • Act as geological liaison and Wellsite PG/PE, supporting the safe and effective delivery of planned wells and ensuring clear communication of well outcomes; this responsibility may extend across multiple assets.
    • Ensure the timely documentation of PG inputs and coordinate mandatory End‑of‑Well Reports (EOWR) for all drilled wells.
    • Participate in internal and external stakeholder engagements, including the presentation of preliminary well results to regulatory authorities and JV partners, and addressing PG‑related queries.
    • Provide PG support to other asset clusters in screening WRFM opportunities, maturing WRFM proposals, and delivering HCIIP for assigned fields, as required.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Physics or related geoscience discipline with at least 9 years relevant work experience.

    The successful candidate should demonstrate:

    • Strong understanding of other Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience disciplines, including Petrophysics (PP), Reservoir Engineering (RE), Production Technology (PT), and Geophysics (GPH).
    • Strong awareness of Subsurface HSE Critical Uncertainties and DEPs applicable to FDP and Well Proposal delivery.
    • Skilled level competence in communication, technical reporting, and collaborative teamwork.
    • Proven interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to operate effectively in complex and uncertain environments, with demonstrated adaptability and resilience.

    Studies Production Geologist:

    • Proven experience in 3D static and integrated reservoir modelling, subsurface uncertainty evaluation and management, field review studies, and Field Development Planning (FDP).
    • Demonstrated capability in static resource volume estimation, reservoir geology, well delivery support, Opportunity Realisation Standards (ORS), and geological mapping within development and/or exploration environments.
    • Good understanding of Subsurface HSE Critical Uncertainties and Design Engineering Practices (DEPs) as they relate to FDP and Well Proposal delivery.
    • Skill level competence in:
    • Static resource volume estimation, classification, and reporting
    • Static reservoir modelling
    • Reservoir geology
    • Geological well design and execution
    • Geological data and information management
    • Knowledge to skill level competence in quantitative reservoir characterisation and geohazard assessment.
    • Knowledge level competence in Structural Geology.
    • A good understanding of geostatistics is desirable.

    Operations Production Geologist:

    • Experience in well delivery, including opportunity maturation, planning, proposal preparation, execution monitoring, and wellsite operations.
    • Good understanding of reservoir modelling, subsurface uncertainty evaluation and management, and the ability to update models using well execution results.
    • Sound knowledge of resource volume evaluation, classification, and reporting.
    • Skill level competence in:
    • Geological well design, execution, and well support
    • Static resource volume estimation
    • Knowledge to skill level competence in:
    • Static reservoir modelling
    • WRFM (Wells, Reservoir, Facilities Management)
    • Geological data and information management
    • Knowledge level competence in quantitative reservoir characterisation and geohazard assessment.
