To oversee and coordinate all operations of the chicken breeder farm, ensuring optimal flock health, fertility, hatchability, productivity, biosecurity, and staff performance to meet production targets efficiently and sustainably.
Key Deliverables
Production Management
- Monitor and manage breeder flock health, fertility, and hatchability.
- Ensure proper feeding, lighting, and environmental controls for optimal production.
- Supervise egg collection, grading, and storage in compliance with standards.
- Maintain accurate production records (e.g., egg count, mortality, feed intake, fertility rates).
Staff Supervision and Training
- Lead, train, and schedule farm staff across shifts.
- Ensure compliance with all SOPs, health, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular team briefings and performance evaluations.
Biosecurity and Disease Control
- Enforce strict farm biosecurity protocols.
- Monitor for signs of disease and coordinate with vets for interventions.
- Supervise vaccination and medication schedules.
Farm Maintenance and Equipment
- Ensure proper functioning of feeding systems, water lines, lighting, and ventilation.
- Oversee routine maintenance and cleanliness of housing facilities.
- Schedule and supervise repairs and upgrades.
Organizational Effectiveness
Inventory and Procurement
- Manage inventory of feed, medication, vaccines, and equipment.
- Report shortages and assist with procurement planning.
- Verify and record deliveries (e.g., feed, supplies).
Reporting and Compliance
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production, mortality, and flock health.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and farm policies.
- Assist with audits and quality assurance checks.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in poultry management, preferably in breeder operations.
- Knowledge of breeder flock management, hatchability, and biosecurity.
- Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge is an advantage.
