    Product Manager

    Location: Lekki, Lagos

    Job Description

    • A Product Manager is responsible for the business management of a product and its commercial success.
    • The manager is responsible for overseeing all activities relating to design research and marketing products on behalf of the company.
    • The manager develops strategies that go into the development of a product line for the company.
    • The manager also determines customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
    • He/She recommends the scope and nature of future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirement, appraising new product ideas and product changing.

    Job Purpose

    • The Product Manager is responsible for product planning, delivery and marketing throughout the product lifecycle.
    • They will develop a vision and roadmap for the product based on input from internal stakeholders, customers, market research and their own industry insight.
    • They will work closely with Development/Engineering and other teams to deliver products that align with this vision, meet market needs and are delivered to a consistently high-quality standard.
    • They will develop a forecast for the product based on input from marketing, sales, market analysts and their own experience while managing its delivery.
    • They will identify the key benefits and value of products. This will be used to create and maintain marketing plans and collateral (including web updates, product training materials and sales training).

    Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
    The job description includes but not limited to:

    • Translate business strategy into product strategy.
    • Completing market research to find out more about competitive products or customer needs.
    • Develop a vision and roadmap for the product based on input from internal stakeholders, customers, market research and their own industry insight.
    • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify, and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share.
    • Drive action throughout the organization to get products to the market.
    • Plan and carry out product launches.
    • Research product feedback and implement change.
    • Manage product profitability and commercial success – own the business case.
    • Write the business case for investments and gain internal approval.
    • Work with internal stakeholders and third parties to assess and establish partnerships.
    • Be the recognized expert in the business on the product, the market, relevant technology, and the competition.
    • Provide insight to stakeholders on the product and market.
    • Provide product marketing with insights on key differentiators and messages.
    • Write product and market requirements.
    • Provide management with analysis and reports.
    • Monitor, report, and improve product performance.
    • Review and adjust inventory levels and product production schedules to maintain product availability.
    • Represent the voice of the customer in senior level management meetings.
    • Support the Product Owner and Product Marketer with any questions they may have.
    • Coordinate with the customer service department to identify potential product defects or customer suggestions.
    • Develop product pricing and positioning strategies.
    • Deliver a regular volume, revenue and profit forecast ( e.g monthly).
    • Manage all aspects of in-life products, including customer feedback, requirements, and issues.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • BSc / BA / HND in Business Administration or related fields such as Economics, Communication, Marketing or Statistics.
    • Professional qualifications in Digital/Social Media Marketing.
    • Proven work experience in product management or an associate product management position.
    • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.

    • Good communication and presentation skills.
    • Interpersonal and relationship management skills.
    • Product knowledge and data analytics.
    • Customer insight skills.
    • User eXperience (UX) knowledge.
    • Design expertise.
    • Having knowledge of market and industry trends.
    • Superior Project management and interpersonal skills.
    • Expertise in the product or market including specific technical or industry knowledge.
