    Procurement Officer

     Job Summary: 

    The Procurement Officer will be responsible for overseeing all procurement activities related to our focus sectors—Agriculture, Maritime, Solid Minerals, and Renewable Energy. The successful candidate will ensure timely and cost effective acquisition of goods and services, manage supplier relationships, and contribute to the seamless execution of projects. This role demands excellent negotiation skills, a proactive approach, and a commitment to upholding ethical procurement practices.

     Key Responsibilities: 

    Procurement Planning and Execution: 

    • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and sector specific requirements. 
    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers/vendors for goods and services required in Agriculture, Maritime, Solid Minerals, and Renewable Energy projects. 
    • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and Invitations to Tender (ITT). 

    Supplier Relationship Management: 

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance with contractual terms. 
    • Conduct regular assessments of supplier performance and recommend improvements where necessary. 

    Cost Management and Negotiation: 

    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms to secure favorable deals while adhering to budgetary constraints. 
    • Analyze market trends and benchmark prices to ensure competitive procurement practices. 

    Compliance and Reporting: 

    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. 
    • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, delivery receipts, and other documentation. 
    • Prepare periodic reports on procurement activities, expenditures, and savings achieved. 

    Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

    • Work closely with Operations and  finance team to understand procurement needs and deliver solutions. 
    • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on procurement best practices. 

    Sustainability and Innovation: 

    • Promote environmentally sustainable procurement practices, particularly in Renewable Energy and Agriculture projects. 
    • Explore innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance procurement efficiency. 

     Qualifications and Requirements: 

     Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 
    • A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, CPP) will be an added advantage. 

     Experience: 

    • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the Agriculture, Maritime, Solid Minerals, or Renewable Energy sectors. 
    • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, tools, and techniques. 
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. 
    • Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and make informed decisions. 
    • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical business practices. 
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills. 
    • Proactive problem solver with the ability to work under pressure. 
    • Passionate about contributing to Africa’s economic development.
