Procurement Manager at Alaro City

Role purpose

• The Procurement Manager will lead and coordinate end-to-end procurement for Alaro City and related business operations.
• The role will cover direct procurement for development and construction requirements and indirect procurement for corporate and operational needs, ensuring timely, compliant and cost-effective sourcing while protecting quality, budget, programme and commercial value.
• Working across projects, corporate and operational functions, the role will support procurement strategy, category management, pipeline planning, competitive tendering, supplier performance, commercial governance and disciplined contract administration throughout the business and project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Category management and sourcing: Manage categories and sourcing activities across direct and indirect spend, developing fit-for-purpose strategies that reflect business priorities, project requirements and market conditions.
• Procurement planning and pipeline management: Develop and maintain procurement plans, category strategies, sourcing pipelines and delivery schedules aligned with approved budgets, programmes and operational priorities.
• Supplier market research and prequalification: Research supplier markets and lead prequalification and engagement activities to identify capable, competitive, compliant and suitably resilient sources of supply.
• RFP and RFQ preparation and issuance: Prepare and issue requests for proposals and requests for quotations, ensuring clear scopes, specifications, commercial requirements, submission instructions and evaluation criteria.
• Tender evaluations and award recommendations: Coordinate technical and commercial evaluations, prepare tender comparisons and develop well-supported award recommendations for approval.
• Commercial negotiations: Lead or support negotiations on pricing, terms, service levels, delivery, risk allocation and other commercial matters to secure sustainable value.
• Contracts and purchase orders: Support the preparation, administration, renewal and close-out of contracts and purchase orders, maintaining clear records of commitments, variations, approvals and obligations.
• Supplier performance: Establish and monitor supplier performance, service levels, delivery and quality, escalating issues and agreeing corrective actions where required.
• Spend analysis and cost optimisation: Analyse spend, identify savings and value opportunities, and support cost optimisation, value engineering and alternative-sourcing initiatives across categories.
• Governance and compliance: Maintain complete, accurate and auditable procurement records and ensure compliance with approved procedures, delegated authorities, contracts, warranties, guarantees and supplier documentation requirements.
• Direct procurement:Manage sourcing for construction materials, infrastructure works, MEP, finishing packages, FF&E, landscaping, facilities and other project-related goods and services.
• Indirect procurement: Manage sourcing for marketing and communications services, professional and advisory services, information and communications technology (ICT), software and licences, office and facilities services, travel and accommodation, recruitment and HR-related services, insurance, training, events, printing and branded materials, and other corporate services as required.
• Stakeholder engagement: Work closely with project, corporate and operational stakeholders, including Construction & Delivery, Quantity Surveying, Design, Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and business support teams.
• Pricing basis and issue resolution: Ensure that pricing is requested on a CIF basis to Alaro City FZC, Lagos, where relevant to imported or project procurement packages, and support the resolution of delivery, quality, customs, logistics and commercial issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in procurement, supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience across direct and indirect procurement spend in complex organisations, including experience operating at senior manager level in procurement.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and hands-on experience with procurement systems.
• Proven experience leading tendering processes, commercial negotiations, and contract administration.
• Experience with procurement for imported or project packages using CIF pricing terms.
• Strong track record of managing procurement stakeholders across Construction & Delivery, Quantity Surveying, Design, Finance, Legal, and senior business leadership.
• Procurement experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments is a plus.
