Plumbing Design & Estimation Engineer at Mar and Mor Integarted Services

Job Summary

• In accordance with the company processes preparing complete cost estimation and tender pricing for Piped Services (Plumbing and Fire Protection) elements which includes; material, labour, erection equipment, testing / commissioning man hours, direct & indirect resources in line with BOQ, scope of work, project specifications & relevant standards.
• Creates and develop Plumbing and Fire Protection Design for commercial and residential facilities. Site visitation, inspection and Survey to assess piped services needs and proffer appropriate Design solution(s).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Meeting with clients and project managers to discuss the scope of projects
• Study invitation to tender (ITT) documents including drawings, project specification, BOQ, scope of work, contract details, and conditions.
• Prepare Plumbing and Fire Protection cost estimates, review and evaluate Vendors’ quotes, and recommend the best option to the client.
• Piped Services Tender BOQ Pricing in line with project specifications, Drawings and other associated invitation to tender documents.
• Prepare Plumbing and Fire Protection designs and associated cost estimates for Design and Build projects, in accordance with Design brief, specifications, relevant codes and standards.
• Preparation of Design Brief and Design Technical Reports
• Providing analytical and problem solving support, employing engineering skills, in support of business and quality improvement processes.
• Preparation of Plumbing and Fire Protection Bill of Engineering measurement and Evaluation and documentations.
• Preparing and sending inquiries to subcontractors/vendors to get competitive quotations.
• Collaborate with the QA/QC & project teams to establish project execution method statements and reflect the same in estimation.
• Preparing technical clarifications to clients for discrepancies in tender documents after reviewing, as well as implementing the changes after response.
• Participate in pre-tender meetings, site visits, and preparing site visit reports to analyse the project scope of work.
• Analyse vendor technical and commercial offers in view of project specifications and standards.
• Preparing comparative statements to analyse and select the most appropriate vendors and subcontractors.
• Collect all vendors’ technical data sheets, vendor specification, drawings and compile in line with tender documents to prepare technical bid submission.
• Preparing and coordinating post-tender technical and commercial clarifications
• Assist the management for post tender commercial negotiations with client and vendors to reach competitive pricing.
• Reports to the Estimation Manager and/or Technical Director depending on assigned task.
• Provide support during project implementation.
• Training of subordinates and Trainee Engineers

Academic Education

• BSc, BTech or HND. (or its equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and related course from a reputable and accredited higher institution of learning.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years post NYSC experience in Plumbing and Fire Protection Design, Tender pricing & Estimation.
• 2-5 years relevant site experience

Requirements:

• Proficiency in the use of Plumbing software. E.g Epanet
• Proficiency in the use of Fire Protection Software. E,g Elite
• Good knowledge of relevant Plumbing and Fire Protection codes and standards. E.g NFPA, BS etc.
• Strong relationship with Plumbing and Fire Protection OEMs representatives/vendors.
• Membership of COREN & NSE is an added advantage
• Proficiency in AutoCad and Revit has an added advantage.
• Microsoft office suites applications Proficiency.
