Job Summary

• The Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacists with dispensing medications, handling prescriptions and stock taking

Job Description

• Responsible for the accurate dispensing and timely distribution of drugs and medicines including counting pills, measuring liquids, and labeling prescriptions.
• Assist in stock taking, Procurement and storage of all drugs
• Ensure that patients understand proper medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
• Ensuring medication reaches the patient in the correct form, dose and on time
• Responding to medication queries from within the hospital, other hospitals and the public
• Maintain accurate records for all medications dispensed.Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and hospital policies regarding the handling and dispensing of medications.
• Maintain stock of medications and ensure proper storage conditions.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure that medications are within their expiration dates.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to pharmacy practice.
• Assist pharmacists with patient counseling, including providing medication instructions and answering patient questions.

Requirements

• Diploma or certificate in pharmacy technology from an accredited program.
• Registration/Certification from Pharmacy Technicians Board of Nigeria
• Current practicing license
