The Pharmacy Intern supports the pharmacy team in various tasks, including assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications, managing inventory, and performing administrative duties. This role offers invaluable practical experience while learning the essential aspects of pharmacy operations under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
Job Description:
Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
Support inventory management, including conducting stock checks and ordering supplies.
Help maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles.
Participate in patient counseling and education on medication use, side effects, and storage.
Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and handling phone inquiries.
Learn and comply with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in daily operations and special projects.
Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to enhance pharmacy knowledge and skills.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a pharmacy program (Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy).
No prior experience is required, but a strong willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication use.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn pharmacy software systems.
