Pharmacist at EMEL

Key Responsibilities

• Review and accurately dispense prescriptions issued by authorized medical practitioners.
• Ensure the correct medicine, dosage, strength, quantity, and instructions are provided.
• Counsel patients on the proper use, dosage, possible side effects, and storage of medications.
• Identify and resolve prescription errors or potential drug interactions before dispensing.
• Provide professional pharmaceutical advice to patients and healthcare providers.
• Participate in medication reviews and provide recommendations where necessary.
• Monitor pharmacy stock levels and ensure the availability of essential medicines.
• Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
• Maintain proper records of controlled and restricted medicines.
• Ensure accurate documentation of prescriptions, dispensing, stock movement, and pharmaceutical interventions.
• Support inspections and regulatory requirements of relevant pharmacy authorities.
• Work closely with doctors, nurses, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in clinical meetings and contribute to medication-related decisions where required.
• Maintain proper records of controlled drugs and other regulated medicines.
• Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered and licensed to practice as a pharmacist in Nigeria.
• Current practicing license/certificate as applicable.
• Previous hospital or clinical pharmacy experience is an advantage.
