Payroll Supervisor at CIG Motor Ltd

Job Summary:

• The Payroll Supervisor will oversee accurate, timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with Nigerian tax, pension, labor, and statutory requirements. The role will supervise payroll activities, maintain accurate payroll records, resolve payroll-related queries, and work closely with HR and Finance to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing

• Collect, verify, and process employee payroll data, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, and overtime.
• Ensure accurate computation of earnings, statutory deductions (PAYE, pension, NHF, NSITF, etc.) and net pay.
• Process payroll in compliance with Nigerian labor and tax regulations.
• Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure timely salary disbursement and bank transfers.

Compliance & Statutory Reporting

• Ensure payroll tax calculations comply with Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) requirements and applicable tax laws.
• Prepare and submit PAYE, pension, and other statutory deductions to the relevant authorities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Nigerian tax and labor laws relating to payroll.
• Assist with payroll audits and compliance checks.

Employee Records & Benefits Management

• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records, including employee earnings, deductions and tax details.
• Handle employee queries relating to salaries, payslips, and tax deductions.
• Support HR in managing employee benefits and allowances, including leave, bonuses and medical allowances.
• Ensure payroll records are updated promptly to reflect employee changes.

Payroll System & Process Improvement

• Use payroll software or HRIS to manage payroll transactions efficiently.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Finance teams on payroll-related projects and system upgrades.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of relevant payroll experience, preferably in a structured organization.
• Good knowledge of Nigerian payroll, PAYE, pension, and other statutory deductions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/HRIS systems.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good knowledge of Nigerian tax and labor regulations.
• Strong confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive employee information.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
