Job Summary

The Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing vehicle bodies, components, and metal surfaces within the automobile manufacturing facility. The role ensures all painting activities are carried out according to company quality standards, technical specifications, and safety procedures to achieve high-quality finishes and product appearance.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation & Painting

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting through sanding, masking, filling, and cleaning.
• Mix paints, primers, and coatings according to approved specifications.
• Apply paint, primer, and finishing coats using spray guns and painting equipment.
• Ensure smooth, even, and high-quality paint finishes on vehicles and components.

Production Support

• Work closely with panel beaters, finishers, and production teams to meet production schedules.
• Carry out touch-up painting and correction of paint defects where necessary.
• Assist in repainting or refinishing damaged vehicle parts.

Quality Control

• Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as runs, bubbles, uneven coating, or color mismatch.
• Ensure compliance with company quality and finishing standards.
• Maintain consistency in color, texture, and finish across all painted products.

Equipment Maintenance

• Operate and maintain spray guns, compressors, paint booths, and related equipment safely.
• Ensure proper cleaning and storage of painting tools and materials.
• Report equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly.

Health, Safety & Housekeeping

• Comply strictly with company HSE policies and paint shop safety regulations.
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, gloves, and coveralls.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of paints, thinners, and chemicals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint shop and work areas.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum of SSCE or Trade Test Certificate in Spray Painting or related field.
• Minimum of 2–5 years’ practical experience as a Painter in an automobile or manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge of automotive painting techniques and surface preparation processes.
• Ability to operate spray painting equipment effectively.
• Knowledge of paint mixing, color matching, and finishing standards.
• Good attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
